Twin Red Dragon Tessen
Tessen (鉄扇?) were folding fans with outer spokes made of iron which were designed to look like normal, harmless folding fans or solid clubs shaped to look like a closed fan. Samurai could take these to places where swords or other over weapons were not allowed, and some swordsmanship schools included training in the use of the tessen as a weapon. The tessen was also used for fending off arrows and darts, as a throwing weapon, and as an aid in swimming. These twin pair of tessen are pure red in back coloring with white dragons imprinted upon the right and left side of a ying yang which resides in the dead center of the tessen the spokes are made of the same titanium/diamond alloy that Kawashika is made from increasing the strength of the weapons exponentially, this also makes them heavier to the wielder yet in the same instance allows for easier deflection of projectiles. The construct of the tessen makes them to heavy for throwing but it can be done with enough force. This act should only be done when it is in a dire situation as the stability of the tessen is not great due to their weight. The Twin Red Dragon Tessen are specially made to go along with the katana Kawashika when used in junction with one another the tessen act as a shield to deflect attacks the fabric thin metal that makes up the red of the tessen allow it so that glancing attacks are deflected if taking a direct blow one should take caution in making sure that the blow lands in the middle area of the tessen this will provide the wielder to deflect the blow and provide the wielder with a instance to close the tessen trapping the opponents weapon between the spokes after the weapon is trapped the possibility of disarming the opponent of their weapon is great. When a tessen is closed upon a blade the act of disarming an opponent is almost a sure thing. For the spokes of the Twin Red Dragon Tessen are grooved with small spikes that will dig into the metal of the opponents blade creating a grip upon the blade that takes a massive amount of force to relieve the blade from this grip. The purpose of the tessen is not so much to be used as a weapon as it is to be used as a guard however the tessen can be used as a weapon, it can be thrown, or the thin metal fabric made of the same titanium/diamond alloy can be used as a blade this usage is not so much to harm an opponent as it is to distract them from another attack such as an open handed palm strike from the free hand the metal fabric will cause severe damage if it slices the right place it does not create large gashes, but it does create deep incisions in the flesh the tips of the spokes rise out a centimeter from the thin metal fabric to help in the cutting process or if thrown to work as a projectile the spokes cutting through the flesh if they make their mark capable of leaving a one inch gash. How this works is the grooves previously mentioned tear the flesh as the tessen slices across the skin. The tessen are a very precise weapon to use taking years of practice and mastery. The tessen can be your best way to defend your self or be a brutal attack. Pretty yes, but don't let the beauty of these tessen distract you from the deadly usage of them.
