My Books (continued)
This is continued from the Journal on my old account. So I should be continuing "How To Bring Your Stories To Life"
Welcome To My Life (Chapter 22)
Chapter 22
Back Home
(The Most Family Time We‘ve Had Since We Got Here)

It’s about a quarter until eight by the time I get home, (The apartment building was on the other side of town) and mom’s finishing loading up the dishwasher from dinner, which I missed. I don’t mind though, I’m not hungry right now. I’m mostly just anxious to find out what Irene has to tell me later.
“I’m home” I say, after scanning the area. So far, everything seems normal enough.
“Bethany!” Trevor yells, running into the room and giving Atora’s death hugs a run for their money.
“Hey buddy, you have fun at Toshimori’s?” I ask. He nods, head bobbing fast enough to tell me that he’s had sugar or caffeine, and his meds have worn off. Oh boy.
“Uh-huh, Yoshimori made cake! He let me try some too!” Yep, I’m gonna kill Yoshimori tomorrow.
“He had me bring you some too!” Scratch that, Yoshimori lives…unless he gives my brother sugar again. I’ll warn him about that later.
“He did, did he?” I say, as I’m dragged off to the kitchen. I can still smell the fish. Glad I did miss dinner, I’m not much of a seafood fan.
“Yep, I told him you like cake, especially chocolate.” Trevor says, his head disappearing into the fridge as he searches for it. Okay, Yoshimori is officially, not getting clobbered by my characters anymore. Hey, the guy sent me cake, even after I told him and the others everything. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say it was a peace offering…and even if it is, it is gladly excepted. There’s no way I’m passing up chocolate flavored peace.
“Here you go.” Trevor says, finally locating the box with the cake in it.
“Thanks” I tell him, taking the box and ruffling his hair a bit. He may be a pain in the butt sometimes, but I still love him.
I open the box, grab a fork out of a nearby drawer, and dig in. Only three words can describe it. This. Is. Amazing. I so need to ask for the recipe. I’ve always wondered what Yoshimori’s cakes tasted like, now I’d gladly volunteer to be his guinea pig whenever he tries out a new recipe. I’ll have to mention that to him.
Focus Bethany, you need to wait for everyone to go to bed, then go meet Irene. I still have a while before anyone’s going to sleep…except maybe dad, since he works pretty hard and falls asleep almost as soon as he gets home, so he probably already is. Mom will probably go read a book for a while, and Trevor’s either going to go watch T.V., do something in his room, or bug me for a while. I’d better get some sleep before I go tonight, even though Irene said we don’t sleep much. I think, as I finish up the cake, and head back to my room.
“Is something the matter honey? You look worried about something.” My mom says, looking up from her book as I pass by.
“I’m fine, I’m just tired. These stupid time zones are really messing me up.” I tell her, half lying. I am worried, worried that I won’t be able to find a way to make things right, worried that I’ll end up hurting someone, and worried that if my family ever found out about me, that they’d think I was a freak. Now I know how Gen, Lissette, and Erika feel.
“Alright then, you aren’t mad that we moved here are you? You haven’t been speaking to us that much since we got here.” She continues.
“Of course I’m not mad. I mean, sure I miss everyone back at our old home, but I really love it here…except for the fact that I have to wear a skirt to school. That part I could do without.” I explain, telling the whole truth this time, and causing her to laugh a bit.
“I’m so glad to hear that…are you wearing blue jeans under your uniform? Is that allowed?” She asks, noticing the jeans. I shrug.
“No one mentioned anything to me. They probably think it’s normal in America.”
“Oh, well, as long as it doesn’t get you in trouble. In all honesty, I think it looks better the way you have it now.”
“Thanks mom. I think I’ll go lay down for a bit now.”
“Alright honey. Want me to come wake you up later?”
“No, that’s fine…but don’t send Trevor in either. Remember what he did last time?”
“Bethany, he didn’t think the water was that cold, and your father’s the one who put him up to it.”
Last time mom had Trevor wake me up, dad had talked Trevor into using a water gun to wake me up. Which reminds me, I still need to get my payback for that. Another thing to put on my to-do list.
“Still, don’t want to risk it happening again.”
“Alright, good night Bethany.”
“Night mom” And with that, I head off to my room.
As soon as I reach my room, I change from the uniform, leaving the jeans on, into a loose fitting orange t-shirt, and fall asleep almost as soon as my head meets the pillow. So much for kotodama tsuki not needing sleep.
