We search for entire lifetimes.
We sacrifice almost everything.
We push onwards through our own blood, sweat and tears.
We ignore the nay sayers.
We turn a blind eye to the warnings.
We block out all forms of common sense.
We step into the darkness, sometimes,
even without a lantern to light the way.
We go off the beaten path.
And we enter into the fire.
Our mothers tearfully plead.
Our fathers sternly warn us.
Our friends bombard us with their skepticism.
And our enemies call us fools.
But we are blind and deaf to it all.
Because it's nothing that we don't already know.
We know of the dangers.
Of the risks.
Of the shadows that wait.
Of the monsters.
We know we that we will cry.
We know that we will bleed.
We know that we will ache.
That we will grow tired and weary.
We know that the road is long and that the journey is merciless and brutal.
But if finding it were easy...
Then it wouldn't be called treasure.
