A blog about....well about....something. Really.
Apathy Is Not The Way To Create Addiction
In a move that no one could have seen coming (<---- please note, this is sarcasm of the highest degree), you can now pay real money to change your class in the "battle system", formerly known as the "Halloween Event" in "the year of the player".

Year of the player's wallets, more accurately.

And yes, I had noticed they'd raised the minor energy boost - 10% of your energy - from 1K gold to 25K gold. Apparently a number of people hadn't until they'd depleted their gold. (See CourageNFaith's comment on my last posting.) It would have been nice if Gaia would have sent out an announcement about that like they have about every other time they want you to open your wallets, but that would require integrity and trust, and we know Gaia's sold theirs for about $75 a pop.

I'm writing about this here rather than the Site Feedback forum mostly.....because I don't care anymore.

Gaia's new CEO had that presentation about how creating addiction leads to people continually handing over money. What I think he missed is that people have to care to do that. It has to matter to them. Having these things - pixels, titles, ranks - has to be important and make them feel good.

Frankly, I'm feeling nothing at all. Except maybe bored. I certainly don't care enough to keep coming back every 6 hours to attack/heal, raise my class. Especially when the rich kids can just buy levels from the cash shop. ($20/level)

I do believe in working hard to get ahead. I've done that here. (See also the stupid goddamn ******** bunny slippers.) But I have also learned that there comes a point where the price is too high. It's just too much work for the results. They're just not worth it.

Especially when the work required is artificially created. Where it's not a level playing field - not even close. If I want to struggle in an environment like that, I don't need to do it online. I have the real world, where the results are real and not just a chance to show off and flaunt what one has rented to a bunch of people I don't even know and whose opinions don't matter.

So yeah, I'm finishing things up to a point, and then I'll collect my wing sticker and piggy health, and go do other things. Not because I'm angry or upset. But because I just don't care.

"Year of the player's wallets, more accurately."

    I just lol'd. smilies/icon_rofl.gif

Or to be even more accurate: "The Year of the Lab Rats". smilies/icon_wink.gif

Looks like it wasn't only Miley Cyrus that got a radical shift with her career.

As well as her, Gaia went from a "Party in the U.S.A." to a "Wrecking Ball", destroying every single piece of its former, admirable self.

Not that I'm against her change. I liked from her since her times of "Hannah Montana". Strangely, I found that show not so bad.
Besides, I like from some of her musics, be it "7 Things" or "We Can't Stop".
As her song says, she's free to do whatever she wants with her life. I'm just using her to illustrate how Gaia radically changed...to the worse.
