This was the best concert I have ever been to. It was lively and I had a lot of fun. This was also the first concert I have ever been to where everybody was standing up the whole time. At the Yes and Heart concerts, no one was standing up. My dad and I also had crappy seats to those shows. The radio station finally came through for us and gave us quality seats. I was able to get some great shots. I got some videos, too, but those things take forever to upload to YouTube - so maybe some other time.
They played a lot from the Dream Police album, which is my favorite!! At one point, they left the stage. Some people decided to leave, but most everyone else started yelling "SURRENDER!" and chanting "Cheap Trick" over and over again. Eventually, Rick Nielsen came back out and said, "D'ya really want to hear more? Okay." And they played their encore, ending with "Goodnight". They started with "Hello There" and "ELO kiddies". Rick was throwing picks into the audience all during the show. During "Surrender", he chucked a Live at Budokan album, still wrapped, way out into the audience. Oh, and Larry David was in the front row. Rick put one of his picks on top of his head. XD And Robin Zander gave him his guitar at the end of the show. And for more randomness, at the beginning of the show, Rick came up to the mic and asked if we were all Robin's neighbors. He lives in the Safety Harbor area, which isn't too far from Clearwater, FL. Anyway, on to the pictures.
The Dream Police shirt I bought. Who cares if it was 30 dollars? It was worth it.
The Checkerboard backdrop.
Rick Nielsen and Tom Petersson looking at each other, like "Hey, how's it going over there?"
Daxx Nielsen, Rick Nielsen's son. He's a great drummer.
And Rick's got his Rick Nielsen shaped guitar.
I'm glad Tom Petersson gets a chance to show off how awesome he is, playing that 12-string bass like no one else can. He was the first person to ever play one.
Tom singing lead on "I Know What I Want"
Robin's hat is concealing all his long blond hair.
He took the hat off for "The Flame".
I got as close as I could without getting in trouble to get this shot.
Ah, the five necked guitar.
And the three original members of Cheap Trick - Rick Nielsen, Robin Zander, and Tom Petersson. It would have been cool if Bun. E was still touring with them.
I don't know where Rick was going in such a hurry. XD
