Interview With: Prince Urban
Flügel editor-in-chief Maxine Grey sat down with 1STair's resident royal flight attendant and asked him a few questions. Here is the interview.

Q. At what age did you realize that you wanted to fly for a living?

A. Well, I suppose I was very young when I realized that I wanted to become a flight attendant. One of my earliest memories is that of flying to England to stay with my grandparents. I was 7. So I guess at age 7 I realized I wanted to fly.

Q. Did you always want to be a flight attendant? Or did you want to be a pilot as well?

A. Yes. I always felt I'd be much better off in the cabin versus the cockpit. I'm terrible with machinery so I'd be useless as a pilot!

Q. Your twin sister Princess Arabella also signed up to become a flight attendant. How come she isn't now?

A. My sister made personal choices specific to her life. I can't really explain why she isn't a flight attendant like me, but I do know that she's better off where she is.

Q. What is it like to have a Queen as your mother?

A. Well, she's just mother for one. If your mother were a waitress would it change how you viewed her? No. We have never let our positions dictate how we would relate to one another.

Q. Do you remember your father?

A. No. He died when I was very small. I was only 2 at the time.

Q. I apologize, I got off topic. What is your very favorite destination to fly to?

A. I'd have to say that flying to Switzerland is my very favorite place to fly to. My second favorite place is Colorado in the United States. I'm a mountain-type boy at heart. I love skiing and snowboarding so those places are like heaven to me.

Q. Which do you prefer? Long-haul flights or short-haul flights?

A. Definitely long-haul flights. The aircraft are larger which means more exercise for me but also more room for my passengers. Plus, we have a certain number of hours we can work so it's better for me to get them in all at once.

Q. Which would you rather fly on: a Boeing 767 or an Airbus A330?

A. Haha! You're trying to trick me into picking favorites. But really I have no favorite. Is like asking whose hamburger is better: McDonald's or Burger King. They're both hamburgers.

Q. Lastly, do you have a special someone in your life?

A. Bahahaha! Now you really are prying. But seriously there is someone I see every time I am in New York. We are good friends and who knows, maybe something more serious will start. It's up to him!

Q. Thank you very much for your time, Your Royal Highness.
