It's been a hell of a summer at the purplewiz household.
For those of you following along at home, the new front door, that was originally ordered and paid for at the end of March, is finally installed in our house. It's a hell of a door, but the shine is dulled somewhat by all the bullshit that went on. The door should have been in no later than early June. At least it's in before the first snow fall.
Just when we thought we had everything under control, Mother Nature got in the act. We get late afternoon thunderstorms regularly in the summer, especially when it's been as unseasonably miserably hot as it's been. We don't usually have lightning that nearly hits the house. Fortunately, it didn't.
Unfortunately, it was close enough that it took out a number of our electronics, including all modern electric phones (the one from the 1980s survived) and both garage door openers. Fried motherboards all of them.
It also took out a couple of surge protectors, but NOT the expensive electronics plugged into them (TVs, computers, router, etc.). So if you've ever wondered: yes, they do work and yes, they are worth the money.
So instead of doing Gaia things like playing Booty Grab and writing more on Gaia Cash economics and latest cranio-rectal inversion of the Gaian powers that be, I've been running around getting new garage door openers (because without the opener they don't lock, the previous owner of this house was a dork) and phones and making sure nothing else died.
You know, boring is starting to sound really good right now.
And BLTs with homegrown, dead ripe tomatoes are just about as good as it gets.
