The new me!
I figured I might as well do this.

So over the past couple of years, a lot has changed for and about me. I used to be this very unsocial, shy kid with long hair and a broken out face. I was very cynical and I didn't like people much. I had no future plans whatsoever, and was basically getting ready to be unemployed, homeless, broke, and miserable. Fortunately, I finally saw how I was spiraling my life towards a shitty end.

So what did I do? I changed smilies/icon_biggrin.gif. as Ghandi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world" And I did, majorly. My senior year of high school I did my absolute best to go outside of my comfort zone and talk to people. And you know what? I made a lot of great friends. Including my teachers. My Government teacher, and my Law Enforcement teacher have my biggest thanks for my change. And I'll get into why in a moment.

Getting to know my teachers was probably the best choice I could make. Some of the teachers I befriended ended up being really awesome, intelligent people that challenged and encouraged me to become more than what I was, and I didn't let them down. One of the teachers I owe thanks to, is my english teacher, Beynon.

Beynon started the year out by constantly punishing our class for two delinquents in the class. And it was pissing me off. However, after getting to know her, I realized what an awesome person she actually was. She was always encouraging me, she even helped me get a scholarship (which saved me THOUSANDS of dollars) by looking over my papers and improving on them. Needless to say, she did say I was already an incredible writer.

Another teacher I loved was my Government teacher, Knowlton. Knowlton is a hardass. If you don't do an assignment, it's a b***h to make up with him. I'd always go in during my lunch hour to hang out with him though, and we'd discuss politics. I think because of him I learned to think a little more for myself, as I would go home to research topics to talk about with him.

Finally, I really owe my new future to my Law Enforcement teacher, and a huge inspiration and friend to me, Wilkins. Let me start off by saying that he's actually a police officer. The local police department (which is pretty freakin' large) sends a police officer to each school in their jurisdiction to protect the school, and he got the assignment. (SRO). These officers also teach a L.E. class. So anyway, this guy really helped me out. The first week of school he told the class about an internship that a student could do with him, and the Cadet Program. I chose to do both to try and impress him. My internship was amazing. I learned so much about how the police work, and how we don't actually have to enforce laws we find unconstitutional. He taught me how being a cop is more than just arresting people. You have to know your community, and care about it. "It's not something you do for the paycheck" he'd always say.

He inspired me to become a police officer. Part of this reason is because I want to inspire my community the way he inspired me. I want to be the kind, loving officer that will be there for you when need be. I want to help you, not arrest you. I want to build trust between the police community, and the civilian community. This is why I owe him such a thanks.

There are still other teachers that deserved to be thanked, Moon, Angell, Bivens, Leavenworth, and even my principles, Ald, Sonny, and Loo. These people all inspired me to be better, and really helped me graduate. Thanks to them I'm getting to know my police department, that I hope to work for in the future. I'm well known enough that the officers will call me the "s**t Magnet", because whenever I come to hang out, the s**t hits the fan.

I'm now enrolled at S.L.C.C. (Salt Lake Community College), and I'm studying my Criminal Justice degree. As soon as I'm finished I'll be able to go through P.O.S.T. (Police Officer Standards and Training) a.k.a. Police Academy.

smilies/icon_biggrin.gif Thanks for reading I suppose!
