Ever since discovering the Word Games section on Gaia, I've noticed that some regulars have these mini capsules with their avatars bobbing up and down inside, as their signatures.
I was quite intrigued and I wanted to know where they got them. The capsules are often accompanied by a variation of "Thank you, Houkito" and later, I got the impression that a WGer regular -- Houkito -- was giving these capsules out for free for those who she deems are 'worthy.'
I can tell you that I was quite jealous of these people who had the capsules.
Late last month, I started to see WG regulars changing their avatars so that they wore swimsuits or beach wear. I remember asking myself, "Okay, what's going on?"
After further snooping and stalking, I found out that Houkito, the Gaian who makes those capsules, was going to make a summer event. This was where I first got the full information on what those capsules are, and how to get them.
One of the rules that you have to follow in order to qualify for one capsule is that you must be active in WG. Houkito specifically states that a Gaian who wishes to have a WGmon must be active in the WG forums for at least a month before an event starts.
Cue SLES digging through her posts, checking out when she'd last posted anywhere.
I was kind of dismayed because I had been inactive for about 6 months (university is very demanding, I tell you). I was ready to sulk, and I was sulking when August 1st -- the first day of the summer event -- arrived. All these WGer, now sporting their beach wear, were about to get those cute capsules, and here I was, ineligible to apply for one!
But then, just to be sure, I started to check my post history again. I went back several pages and found out that I had, in fact, been posting in the WG forum in June.
This was my proof that I had been active!
This was my ticket to owning a WGmon!
I was grinning like mad by then (this was yesterday, I believe), and quickly started to put together a rather crappy, last-minute beach wear for Q. (Poor Q. I don't think he likes being at the beach that much...)
And not long after posting in Houkito's WGmon thread, I got a reply from her saying that she's currently working on it.
I was so happy!
And I still am.
Thank you, Houkito, for making the WGmons. I look forward to more of these events in the future.
