Chapter 1: Bound! Part 1 of 3

4E201, The 17th of Last Seed, Morndas. Somewhere past the border of Skyrim and Cyrodiil. Near the outpost of Helgen.

Darkness. It started out dark and silent. It felt like ages since Nora had been caught by guards, trying to flee into the cold mountains of Skyrim. She had been running away from Imperial guards, right after she had stolen a letter from a rich, yet insanely corrupt aristocrat in Cyrodiil. The contents of the letter contained secrets that would have helped Nora's mission, had she not been captured. She sighed softly, as to not wake her fellow captives. She went through her mind, recalling the events that led to this moment.

Nora as running through a forest. She was always running. She was used to it. Her job was overall a thrilling one. She was a thief. Not a master one. She had her flaws. But she could steal from just about anyone. She was 8 years old when she stole her first item. It was a silver ring that belonged to a merchant. She stole it, then sold it back to the same merchant for 21 septims. That was 8 years ago, however. She has upgraded to much more valuable things.

Nevertheless, she continued her pace, dodging trees, occasionally stopping to try to pinpoint her pursuer's numbers and position. They were Imperial Soldiers. Heavily armed. All wearing studded armor. They carried standard Imperial weapons and gear. Steel daggers. Imperial short swords. Imperial long bows, along with steel arrows. There was one among them who wore a different set of armor. Heavy steel Imperial armor, capable of taking multiple blows from any weapon. He also wore steel plated Imperial shin boots, and steel plated Imperial bracers. When she first saw him, she couldnt see his face. He wore a strange, closed helmet, with a black plume atop it. Instead of carrying a standard Imperial short sword, he carried a steel battle axe. From where she had been perched, she could see numerous nicks and dents on the blade, probably from multiple battles. She sighed silently in relief that they did not have horses. Soldiers are easy to outrun, but horses. She wouldnt have a prayer. He was most likely a Legate. She couldnt tell.

She snapped out of her day dream and continued running, leaping over fallen trees and rocks. It had begun to grow cold. She could feel the familiar Skyrim air. She knew that if she made it over, she could easily run to the city of Riften to escape capture. She had a distant cousin in the Thieves Guild that could help her out. All she needed to do was cross that border. The only problem was that she could hear Skyrim guards talking to one another. More importantly, they were talking about her! She quickly picked up an accent that could belong to nobody but an Imperial soldier.
"Remember, if you see this woman, catch her immediately! Tie her up, and keep an eye on her. She's a skilled thief, so she would have no problem sneaking out when nobody is looking. Whatever you do, do not kill her either. She needs to be tried in Cyrodiil." The soldier said.
"Aye. And she will be. Dont worry. Nobody slips past us!" The Skyrim guard responded.
She couldnt help but chuckle silently. Thats what you think!, she thought. She crept low, as to not attract any attention and to remain out of sight. It was at least 30 feet to the nearest tree, near the border. She obviously couldnt go through the gate, her face is known to the guards. No! Her only chance would be to climb a tree and somehow wait until nightfall, then leap over the border, and dash out of sight. She couldnt take on the guards, not with her current gear. She wore a simple set of leather armor. It was lightweight and didnt slow her down. She also wore matching boots and bracers, also made of leather. Over her head was a simple clothe hood. She had a satchel over her shoulder that carried her potions and other gear: lock picks, herbs, stolen goods, and the note she had stolen. She was armed with a pair of iron daggers. She was a decent fighter, being able to hold her own against some people. But these guards were highly trained. Their physical strength greatly over powered hers. They could probably crush her windpipe with ease.

She shuddered at that thought and continued. When nobody was looking, she rolled across the pathway, into a large bush. When she was there, she stopped and made sure nobody heard. She was successful. The Skyrim guards were going back and forth about mead and brawls they had been in. Nora rolled her eyes. "Nords..." She said silently to herself. She slowly stood up and gripped the bark of the nearby tree. It was sturdy and strong. It could surely hold her weight. She managed to pull herself up, climbing until she was on a low branch. She, once again, paused to make sure nobody was aware of her. Again, nobody had caught sight of her. She, again, began climbing up the tree, moving swiftly from branch to branch, until she was nearly at the top. From there, she could see over the gate. Next to the tree, was a rather large rock. She could leap from the tree onto the rock, then climb down and slip into the mountains without anyone seeing. She smiled at her plan and relaxed a bit as she had begun waiting for night fall. In a few hours, I will be free! She thought to herself happily. The tree limb provided enough space for her to lie back. The small branches over head and underneath also provided enough cover so that she was practically invisible behind the foliage. She pulled a simply rope from her satchel and tied her waist to the tree, so that she would fall off while she rested. She felt sleep begin to take her. She then closed her eyes, thinking that when she woke up, she'd be a free girl. She was wrong...
