Inane Wanderings
A blog about....well about....something. Really.
So, About Those Gruckens....
As you may or may not have noticed, when my miserable, grumpy Lite Octopii finally bit the big one yesterday (they make the Cuttlefish look downright cheerful), I refilled my tank with 17 Gruckens that actually glow, for some low value of glow.

It's been a little over 6 months since I took down my Big Grabbable Tank. A lot has changed since then. For example, I've been home more than 4 weeks in a row now. That's more than I have been since January.

But some things haven't changed. I still spend a lot of my real life time on my father's ongoing issues. I still have a lot of other projects and issues of my own in real life that I need to spend time on. I still can't be here every 3 hours, give or take 20 minutes, to pimp glows. I don't have the energy, anyway.

This is why the other aquarium numbers project I was futzing around with is still in the futzing around stage, and is likely to stay there for some time.

But I missed having a tank. It's more of a community thing than a NEED GOLDZ NAO thing. There's not a whole lot I want on Gaia (my want list is more like a bookmark list than a MUST HAVE NAO list), and my current Gaian income is sufficient to meet those wants.

So I went with a tank that is a low risk, low pressure, low reward. Yes, of course I ran the numbers on the Gruckens, and I know what is needed for them to pay back the amount I have invested. This is me. I don't do anything on Gaia without doing the math.

The amount I have invested is low enough that I'm willing to take the loss if this experiment doesn't work. It's only 3 weeks, and as I often say in real life, "I can poop(*) that much gold".

(*)Actually, I use a much stronger synonym here, but as this is a fine, upstanding journal, I went with the milder form. Use your imagination.

I'm hoping with minimal pimpage and time, the tank will be self-sufficient. Please note that I'm not looking for profit; I'm not putting in much time or resources, so I don't expect much back.

And if it doesn't work out, the big Fried Chicken Dinner is August 3, and I can pull the plug and go back to one lite fish so I can collect the Daily Crap Reward from the Overseer.

Either way, yes, I'm keeping data, and I'll write about them here or somewhere else. Probably here. I'm also keeping stats on the glow frequency of Gruckens - I think someone somewhere was looking for data on lesser fishes, and as usual, I'm more than happy to share my numbers.

So that's why I have a tank full of Gruckens.

Besides, I like Gruckens.

I suppose they'd be more like the fried squirrel I once passed on than fried chicken.

Yup, it's past August 3, and if you're wondering why I'm still running this tank, well, this entry should explain it.
