I wish my uncle was more willing to throw things away. :I
Just to be clear, I am grateful that they're housing me in the first place. But the room that I currently occupy is full of dusty books, paper, and other random miscellaneous things that have accumulated to make the room incredibly stifling. (And I'm talking about books like a phone directory from 1999 and piles of expired medication.)
My aunt has told me to tidy it up and secretly throw away some of the junk, but I can't bring myself to do it behind my his back. It's hard to tidy a place when there's really no room left to put things. To top it all off, bringing up the subject of throwing these things away has often made my uncle angry. He insists that those are his things and he has use for them.
I honestly think that wouldn't be so bad if he wasn't still adding to the pile though, and most of the time its things like the junk mail they receive! It gets awkward at times too because there's nowhere else in the house for him to put such things, so he still adds them into the room even though I've already moved in.
The mess is infuriating, but I'm at a loss as to how to deal with this whole situation...
