Jace: The figure shifted and shivered and tried to huddle deeper inside their hoodie and tried harder not to peek down- but did at the street shockingly far below the narrow ledge they were inching along.
Yasmen42: Never in his life would Wendall have imagined he would someday be tentatively feeling his way along the outside of the tallest skyscraper in the city, CircuitCorp's headquarters, the Millennium Building.
Amethyst Tenshi: He could hardly breath and his pulse raced at an unnatural speed. He tentativly inched his way towards the window, desperate to get back inside before time ran out.
ptsluvsnfl: Before time ran out... . Who was he kidding? It was already too late: he was the last person alive with a real heart beating inside of him.
Yasmen42: Even Wendall's companions, the people on the ledge with him (if they could still be called people), had already been changed. No, we are way beyond the point of time running out, he thought, grimacing as his fingers scrabbled to find a way to open one of the windows.
Phanna: Somewhere inside this behemoth of a building, was what they needed, what humanity needed.
Amethyst Tenshi: A sickening snap made Wendell's heart skip a beat and he froze in place. He slowly looked to his right to see that the transformation had started. The bodies of this comrades had started to move in an unearthly way. Rigamortis had already set in, but the bodies snapped and moved, eerily crawling towards him.
ptsluvsnfl: “No!” the young man gasped audibly. A second cry caught halfway in his throat. One-hundred-sixty stories below him was the debris-littered asphalt, and right behind him were what he had once known as his three best friends. He had a decision to make.
Yasmen42: If he didn't act fast the decision would be made for him, but at that moment Wendall noticed that one of the windows on the next story down had a railing surrounding a ledge, not quite big enough to be considered a balcony. It seemed he in fact had a third option.
Phanna: He clenched his eyes shut tight and shoved off gently from the building's cold facade, hoping that he did not misjudge the distance to this unorthodox safety net.
ptsluvsnfl: Cold air shot past Wendell's face and through his hair on his way down. It felt good; -like he hadn't been awake for forty-eight hours straight. Any attempts to remember them only made him feel sick with anxiety.
This isn't the dumbest thing I’ve done today. He thought briefly before he collided with the wrought iron bar.
Amethyst Tenshi: The pain in this stomach exploded as he slid off the bar and onto the smooth tiled floor of the small balcony. He wrapped his arms around himself and rolled onto his side, needing to find some small comfort from the pain he felt. But he couldn't stay here long. He had to find the last hope for humanity. As he struggled to his feet, he looked over the railing to see the broken body of what was once his friend, a thought accorded to him. The ground floor. He needed to get to the base of the building.
Sayurixchan: Wendell looked up briefly from where he just jumped, contemplating the fate of his other two friends. He had never felt more alone. He knew he had to keep moving forward though. Concluding that scaling the outside of the building was definitely a bad idea, he decided to force his way through the window that looked over the small balcony he was standing on.
Phanna: He curled his fingers under the lip of the window pane, prying gently, slowly. Good morning. Watch out for that morning traffic, it's backed up all the way to the interstate so if you are heading that way, be prepared for some delays!
Yasmen42: Fortune must be smiling on him, as Wendall noted he was in an empty break room, complete with view screen switched to the local news and a very up-to-date charging station in the corner.
FuZzyKittEn: Wendel quickly realized he was going to have to seek someone out to examine the injuries that occurred during his fall, as he grabbed a syringe out of the emergency kit they kept in the office's break room.
Phanna: He moved his hand gently along his skin where he collided with the bar, wincing slightly at the pain.
~Da llama queen~: ~He had to push the pain aside and focus. A drop of sweat trickled down the side of his face as he continued through the building. He would have to stay alert; due to the fact he had no idea what to expect here. Odds were against him to seek medical help. After all, time was of the essence. He needed to get this hope to humanity. There was a creak of sound in the hallway he was near. Was it something to worry about? He braced, staying alert.~
Yasmen42: At the harsh sound of metallic footsteps drawing near Wendall ducked into a cleaning closet hoping he wouldn't be discovered, but the strong odors of the chemicals began to make him feel even more light-headed.
Phanna: Hhhhello, is...is..someone there. a delicate voice from the darkness squeaked out.
Stephbug: Startled, Wendel stays still for a moment, he opens the door to a crack, looked around but sees no one. hhhhhello....... looking down Wendel sees a single Door Mouse
Sayurixchan: He looks back up again and glances across the room through the crack in the door. No one else seemed to be there. "H-Hello?" he calls out again, trying to push the thought of a talking mouse out of his mind.
Phanna: Wendall wasn't sure if it was the chemicals in the janitor's closet getting to him, or something much more virulent.
Sayurixchan: "What do you keep looking at?" the small voice said from the ground. "HELLO?" it screams trying to catch his attention.
lilgemangel: Wendall turns toward the sound source to find nothing but a tiny rodent waving at him. He let himself lean against the wall and collapsed onto the floor. Still believing that he was under the influence, he concentrated on the teal and white floor tile to reset his bearings.
ptsluvsnfl: "No, not happening," Wendell was terrified, racing with adrenaline, and mentally-exhausted. "I don't have time for talking animals right now," he explained with an apathetic tone he used for all of his recent delusions.
Phanna: He shut his eyes tight, inhaling slowly as if to calm his heart rate slightly, but to no avail.
Maximista: Try as he might, he was still curious as to see what was in front of him. He took a deep breath and forced his eyes open so fast that the bright lights of the room blinded him for a minute. All he could see was flashes of dots, and feel a piercing pain behind his eyes. The chemicals had filled his lungs. He gasped panicking and pushed the door fully open before falling out of the cleaning closet into the clean air.
FuZzyKittEn: He sat up from the floor and leaned against the door frame until his vision returned.
Stephbug:As his vision slowly returned to him, the first thing he saw was this small door mouse crawling about his leg
FuZzyKittEn:Startled by the rodent, Wendel throws it off of himself and stands up.
Stephbug:As the rodent his the floor, Wendel hears it squeak out OW! Why would you do that?!
Miss Ruckus Stepping as far back from the talking rodent as he could, Wendel dusted his clothes off and tried to think of a logical response, however, he was about to talk to a door mouse. He went to speak alas nothing but the sound of escaping managed it's way out, Wendel was still panic stricken.
FuZzyKittEn: He started to hear crackling and popping sounds echoing off of the walls.
Stephbug: Quickly! We must run! the door mouse squeaked up at Wendel.
Miss Ruckus Going against his instincts he gave a slight nod to the rodent. Swallowing the large lump that had formed in his throat Wendel chased after the small rodent away from the crackling and popping noises.
No matter how fast Wendel ran, the crackling sounds kept getting closer, louder.
Stephbug:The mouse seems to have vanished from his sight, All he could hear was the crackling sound and the faint squeaking of the mouse ushering him onwards Quickly! Don't turn around! It'll get you if you dont hurry!
Miss Ruckus Almost as if the door mouses words were more of a dare than a warning, Wendel looked over his shoulder. The momentary lack of paying attention warranted a slight stumble as his feet continued forward in their fear based fleeing.
Stephbug: No Don't! squeaked the mouse, but it was too late, Wendel looked behind him for only a second, but that second was enough for him to see what was chasing them. At first all he sees is an upside-down head gleaming with delight as it chased it's victim. As he scanned up, he saw what horrified him the most, it's lower as of a mechanical spider scurrying across the ceiling a few feet behind him.
Miss Ruckus Wendel almost fainted on the spot as the half man half mechanical spider monstrosity skittered it's way closer to them. It was fight or flight and up until this point flight had been working. The beast was about to reach one of its long cold legs towards Wendel when he took off letting out a scream of terror. He managed to escape with only an oil drip from the mechanical leg on the shoulder of his shirt. Game time was certainly over as Wendel bent to scoop the door mouse up and run with him expecting the mouse to give him instructions of where to head.
Stephbug: Go into the closest room on the left! squeaked the mouse. Wendel nods as he rips open the door and slams it shut.
ptsluvsnfl:For ten terrifying seconds, Wendell heard the beast draw closer. Creak snap. Creak snap. But it faded away just as it had come, and then there was silence.I told you not to look. The mouse sighed. You're not strong enough yet.
Phanna: Wendall's lip began to curl up as a low chuckled filled within him, soon giving way to a half crazed wide smile and the laughter of a madman.
Stephbug: He finally snapped. First his friends left him and turned against him, he then was being chased by a mechanical monstrosity, and now he is about to have a conversation with a talking door mouse! this has to be a dream Wendel thought as he slumped down, the adrenaline rush fading away.
ptsluvsnfl: No, no, don't give up, Wendell! The mouse sounded frantic.
"Why shouldn't I?" Wendell dryly indulged the creature.
Everyone needs you! It began to sob in tiny, pitiful little squeaks.
Now that he was past confusing at its existence and really, past caring at all what it was doing there, Wendell could really take a second look at his strange companion: so small, so fragile, so easy to pass over in the hallway. It sort of reminded him of someone.
Stephbug:Howevere try as he might Wendel couldn't quite remember who this furry little companion reminded him of. All that came out from trying was a sudden burst of sharp pain. Clenching his head from the pain his vision blurred and he collapsed to the floor.
ptsluvsnfl:"Hey Wendell, guess who breached CircuitCorp's last firewall?" Wendell looked up from his homework. His friend, Conner, was grinning broadly.
"You know tha's illegal, right?"
"It's not like I'm going to steal anything. I just wanted to see if I could hack them! And I did! Wanna look at their finances? How 'bout we dig into their top secret research?"
Wendell's dreams were always so vivid.
Stephbug:"I don't think you should do...." Mumbled a shadowy figure behind Wendel.
"What was that _____?" Connor asked, however it seemed the sound was cut just before he said the name.
"I said, Wake up Wendel..." The shadowy figured sounded as those it was in tears "Please just wake up..."
ptsluvsnfl:"Who's there?" Wendell rubbed his eyes with a wince of pain. That headache hadn't gone away; in fact, it seemed to be getting worse. At least it distracted him from the pain of his collision with the railing earlier. "Hello?" He removed his hand from his face.
When Wendell looked around, there was no one. No Conner, no talking door mouse, and no one crying. He was alone again.
Drip. Drip. Drip.
Stephbug:Drip. Drip. Drip. While looking around he noticed what sort of room he was in. It was the Rec room for CircuitCorp. He stumbles about the room looking for something.... Anything really. But all he found was an empty coffee pot, some food wrappers, and of course nothing in the fridge.
Do I stay in here...? Or do I risk it going back out...? he thought to himself as he winces in pain.
ptsluvsnfl:There was a rustling sound. Winchell spun around and almost doubled over from the strain to his sore abdomen. There was that blasted doormouse, nibbling through an unopened bag of chips.
Noticing him, it looked up. Ah, you're awake! I was just getting something out from my stash! Hungry?
