This'll be my fourth entry, and still no signs of me posting a plain ol' "journal entry" in a stricter sense, despite the intro portion of this whole thing advertising that some noisy kid would be publicly publishing some profound nonsense from time to time. Well, sorry to disappoint, my dear one reader, but I'm not that kid yet.
Anyway. This post will contain my translation of a Matsuda Ryouji song entitled Kutsuzure. It was used as the ED for the anime adaptation of Black Cat.
An important note: My translations are crafted in such a way that they can be used to sing along with the original without sounding awkward -- that means I try to keep the syllables per line the same while still maintaining a rhyme scheme. Because of this, though, I do have to take some liberties with the lyrics. All the same, I did my best to keep it close to the original meaning.
(TL;DR: My stuff is, uh, sing-along-able.)
"Kutsuzure" is actually what you call sores or blisters from wearing shoes, I think, but, well, I don't believe that anybody would wanna listen to a song called "Athlete's Foot."
(Okay, you wacky nitpickers, athlete's foot and normal blisters aren't the same. Sheesh. Can't a guy make a technically-incorrect joke just to be funny around here?)

Kutsuzure (cover) - Kuroda Shira
(The above link is a cover of the original, as I couldn't find any non-copyright-claimed vids using the full song. Fret not, however; I can assure you that this cover is of superb quality.)
We revel in snow; your tiny hands must be quite cold
Come place them in my pocket as we walk this powdery road
As our hands touch, feel the snow melt away; this warmth will be enough.
I see your face bluff a tiny bit when chill returns
A little sigh, a rather shy response I always earn
Joy tints your face as you sing your sweet song, and charm the wind to hum along
Your breath turns into mist, your spirit soars melodically
There the crystals take the twilight skies
Nothing more needs to be said
We delight in this, our peace; let it linger on like this
All that I wish for
Is to gaze at you; let my dream come true
As gentle snow falls back to earth so silently.
Because of your new boots, your feet now seem to start to ache
Just rest a bit, my dear, I'll wait so that you can ease the pain
I'll slow down my pace, walk with you in this white land; everything's okay
There's just no need to rush, let's walk along together here,
Steps in rhythm, under timeless skies
Nothing more needs to be said
You will be as one with me, and this "I" can be called "we"
And for now, we'll just
Keep each other warm in each other's arms
From all the cold, from all the pain, eternally
As gentle snow falls back to earth so silently.
P.S.: This translation happens to be one of my oldest works, so the quality here may not be on par with my previous releases. I did, however, revise the text here as much as I could. The old version had a lot of mismatched/awkward syllables, as well as a generally questionable choice of words, and this new edition... still has some, but... well, I did my best, okay? xp
