So, since I'm sort of just going off in my own direction, religion wise, I figured I may as well post what I've been figuring out here, see if there are any other pagans making their own way. Today, I've got a snow day. Yay. So obviously, I give thanks to Skadi, goddess of Winter and Vengeance. I believe eash god/goddess is a reflection, sort of like MPD or DID, now, of the Many-As-The-One God, so praying to Awesome Skadi personally is most probably the best path for specific snow/winter occurrences. Granted, she also puts forward the idea to have a venomous snake drip poison on Loki's face for punishment, which makes me sad, but Thor (Donnar) is the old branch family's namesake and he let Loki get his mouth sewn shut so eh.... I really hope Loki's punishments have been exaggerated. I feel awful about his first two children. But anyway, my thanks to Skadi, back on track. Since Skadi is portrayed as an altogether unhappy goddess (didn't marry her love, goddess of cold things and VENGEANCE) I figured the best way to thank her was to pray for her happiness and peace, in a way that required physical sacrifice. So, I went outside in my half-bare feet (I've got one sock on, anyway), with snow falling around me, and picked up a good half-handful of snow. I then repeated my prayer for her happiness and peace over and over until the ice melted, since that would require a bit of physical discomfort and some pain from the snow, and I supposed that a vengeance goddess would be more comfortable with receiving pain as homage than just a verbal prayer. The snow, however, didn't hurt my feet at all, and melted remarkably quickly for half-ice-half-snow in between my infamously cold hands. I hope this means Skadi was pleased. smile Well, cool. <Oh I'm punny. Have a nice day, everybody.
