If you have read the article I posted on the first journal entry, the one by Claude Riffat, then you should understand this entry just fine.
First, you lay out very still. It is recomended to lay on your back, hands at your side, but I am more comfortable in a semi-fetal position. So, I do that.
No matter what, do not move. Not for an itch, not for a tickle, not even if your house starts burning. Lay very still. Your mind sends signals to your body to see if you are ready for sleep, acknowleding the itch or tickle or potential death via carbon monoxide just delays the process.
Visualize a simple image in your mind. A triangle, or a square, or the flames licking at the bottom of your door all work quite well. Focus on absolute darkness, picturing nothing but this image. Eventually you will see this image clearly, rotating and sliding across your vision. You may start to see the edges of your vision boiling, random flashes of white, or a tunnel vision.
Try to forget the boundaries of your body and just let your body fall asleep.
After about a half hour of this, just go to sleep. If the fire doesn't get to you first, of course.
Wake up early, like four hours after you go to sleep, then repeat the process. I have found that I remember things more clearly during this second stage than I do from the first, but there are exceptions.
I also recomend vowing to yourself certain things. Such as, 'I will remember my dreams,' or 'I will become conscious of my dreams'. Self affirmation can have positive results. :3
So, give it a shot! Comment in my journal to let me know how it is working out for you!
And have a roommate or someone stay awake to take care of that fire.... Seriously, you are far too important to be dealing with that. ;D
