Kitsuhana Hamika
Song: Hiding From The Spotlight
Written By: Jeannette Anne Blanchard

I've never been one to blend in,
Because I never had the option.
I've never been very common,
And avoided my own reflection.
Growing up in a minority,
I learned to disappear.
Often said to be pretty,
But I doubted and lived in fear.
Whenever I looked around,
No one looked quite the way I do.
I know how this must sound,
But there's nothing I could do.
This is the way I used to feel,
And honestly it hasn't changed.
It turns and turns, the wheel,
As I slowly get more estranged.
There's no fitting into this society,
For someone like me.
When one belongs to a minority,
It's harder, can't you see?
It's harder to be confident,
When all eyes are watching.
This is the reason why I've spent
My life in hiding.
Don't you understand,
Sometimes I need assistance.
Sometimes difficult to stand,
Often being in need of defense.
People assume I'm all alone,
And they have it right.
It's easy to cast a stone,
At someone in the spotlight.
So, when you're one to stand out,
You learn to hide.
Though I'm shedding my doubt,
And I'm gaining pride...
There'll always be times to hide,
Always will be times to disappear,
In this society of fear.
