Kimi ni Todoke [anime/manga]
My sister gave me a limited Crunchyroll premium membership for Christmas, so I decided to use it to knock one of my to-read manga off my list by watching the anime version instead. Well, of course, the anime finished before the manga did (and held surprisingly close to the original manga from what I could tell), so I just had to pick up the story from where the anime left off, because if there was more to it then I definitely wanted to hear it.
Overall, I just love this series. At first I was hesitant because Sawako seemed too good to be true. Girl who was avoided her entire life but is oddly extremely loving towards everyone for no good reason, who’s not resentful at all ever, not even once even when she’s given good reason to be (like towards Kurumi), and suddenly one day people befriend her and even a cute and popular guy falls for her...? Yeah, too good to be true...except not. Come second season and it turns out Sawako and even Shouta are so extremely insecure of themselves it hurts.
This is the type of couple that takes one step forward and then three steps back, but I love this dynamic because—honestly—if they didn’t have problems, there wouldn’t be a story. At all. ;]
