Fable Segment III: First Encounter
"No, no, no!"

"Go away! Go away! I won't go back!"
The hooded figure to the right of the male fallen shouted this and started shaking uncontrollably, tears falling on the bar from under the hood. It was a girl's voice, and man, did it sound familiar. Anton wanted to run over and say he didn't want to hurt her, but before he could, the male fallen instantly leapt onto the bar as his nails elongated into sharp claws and he turned into some sort of beast. Unbelievable, Anton thought as he sidestepped to the left and avoided the male-turned-beast's predictable first slash, His hatred for Demigods has probably consumed all sanity and transformed him into a wolf-like beast. Any dishes and cutlery previously on the bar and the table behind Anton were swept by the wind from the slash's speed, shattering on the ground and sending porcelain bits flying everywhere. The loud noise from the plates grabbed the attention of everybody inside the inn, some already screaming and running away at the sight of the beast.

Damn it! Now this whole city is going to hear about some freak accident, Anton realized as the male fallen, or should he say, blood-craving beast bared his sharpened teeth and swiftly jumped from the bar to swipe his claws again at what he wished to be his supper, The last thing I need is to have some fight to point me out in plain sight. Anton tightened his left hand's grip around his katana's hilt and jumped backwards to avoid the attack. Before he could unsheathe his weapon, however, Anton raised his right forearm and blocked the next attack, a harsh kick for which the beast put his left hand on the ground to balance himself. The impact from the block practically froze the two in place. Trying to keep a calm composure, Anton noticed that his opponent seemed a bit surprised. At least, that's how it looked from the eye that wasn't pitch white. By this point, all of the civilians were out of the inn, some of them leaving their meals and others even leaving some green papers.

At that moment, Anton noticed the fallen girl coming back to her senses and turning around to see what was going on. he leaped back, finally unsheathing his katana in the case that she would jump out and attack him too. Yet, she didn't. She actually seemed a bit... worried. Why? Surely she wasn't worried that he was being attacked by what he jokingly thought of as her little pet. Maybe she unsuccessfully tried keeping a low profile too, and was now nervously thinking how she'd run away from this one. If that was the case, what if she needed help, or at least more than that of a lunatic who couldn't keep his composure? Whatever the case, he had an enemy in front of him, and it didn't matter whether or not this enemy was the girl's friend. Now was the time to attack.

Anton raised the katana and, gripping the bottom part of the hilt with his right hand, started dashing from left to right, running towards his enemy. When he was sword's length away, he slid to his left and partially swung his blade at the beast's right shoulder. When the beast raised its right hand to grab the blade, Anton directed the rest of the swing completely to the left, into the air. Using the momentum from the intended miss to help him dash to the right, He let go of the hilt with his right hand and swung again, this time at his enemy's neck and with the full extension of his left arm. This was a fun trick of Anton's; though there were many minor details to it, the whole attack happened in less than a split second and always left some kind of mark. The beast leaped back, yet Anton's blade still left a solid cut thanks to the arm extension. It wasn't as good of a cut as Anton had hoped, but given the fact he himself remained scratchless, it was good enough to send a message.

The beast, now a bit enraged, let out a growl and retracted his right arm. Not a moment later, he released his arm and jumped at Anton, claws fully extended and aimed for the head. Anton stretched his neck to the right and, when the beast's body flew past him, pushed his enemy away from the chest with his right hand, preventing a possible turn and stab in the back. The beast kept going until his right claws stuck in the inn's wooden wall. Noticing the relative firmness of the inn's walls, he began climbing it, going around Anton and adding another dimension to the fight.

When the beast eventually leaped off the wall and kicked at Anton, the fallen girl dived in and blocked the kick using both of her forearms. She yelled something while diving in, but Anton didn't catch what it was. It sounded like a command to stop fighting. Wanting to take advantage of the situation, Anton slashed at the beast's leg. The girl, however, threw the beast by the ankle to the right and prevented Anton's attack from landing. A little p*ssed off, Anton continued the slash aimlessly in the girl's direction. However, she managed to dodge it by rolling her body to the right. The girl made eye contact with the beast as if to say something, so Anton added some distance between him and the two.
This chick has to have gone mad if she thinks she can stop this fight, He thought as a moment passed with no action. He was right.

All of a sudden, the beast sidestepped around the girl, ran towards Anton, and crouched with an extended right leg, swinging the leg in an attempt to trip him. Anton jumped and dodged the leg, but the beast unexpectedly threw itself at him and clawed at his chest. One of the claws managed to rip through his new jacket and leave a cut from his top right ab to his bottom left. The beast had landed a hit. Infuriated, Anton started carelessly swinging his katana at the beast as many times as possible, ignoring the horrified expression on the girl's face. What added to Anton's anger was that, through the carelessness of his swings, the beast was able to block and dodge most of them, occasionally throwing in an unsuccessful swipe of his own.

After an incredibly slow minute of claw swiping and sword swinging from table to table to roof to bar, Anton somehow calmed himself down internally and prepared for a final hit. Amidst all of the close-combat fighting, He kicked off of the beast's chest into a back flip, landed on one of the few tables that were still intact, kicked off of that with his left foot, changed his grip on the sword so that the dull side of the blade touched his left forearm and the hilt was forward, landed on the bar, leapt from the bar with his right foot, added front flip for the sake of style, and slammed the bottom of the hilt into the right side of the beast's forehead with as much remaining strength as possible. The impact was so powerful that when the beast crashed into the inn's walls, he was unable to get out. He let out a raspy sound out of pain as if he had no voice. In Anton's opinion, the beast was implying defeat.

"It's about damn time," He muttered under his breath as he gripped the hilt with his left hand properly again and walked over to the defeated beast, "This'll definitely go in my nonexistent hall of trophies." Before he made it to the beast, though, the girl ran past him and kneeled at the beast's side, prying him out of the wall to observe the 'poor' thing's head injury and put pressure on it. "I told you to stop! This is what happens! Why didn't you listen!?" she exclaimed as the beast's claws withdrew into their hands and he turned back into a relatively normal fallen.

While Anton kept walking towards the fallen girl and male, the girl turned her head to glare at him and yelled,
"How dare you! You attack a child, you insufferable being!" She then spat at him as she held onto her barely conscious friend... or pet, depending on little of a sh*t Anton cared now that some girl from Purgatory tried to scowl at him simply because he defended himself from a friend with a bad temper. He couldn't decide whether this idiotic chick was challenging him, or giving herself death sentence. He raised his blade slightly to make the dull side of the blade's tip touch the girl's chin, and coldly stated, "Mercy is the one thing not making me push this sword another few inches forward."

The girl immediately grabbed his blade with her left hand until she was bleeding. and, with a loathing, replied,
"Mercy... I don't need it from someone like you. You disgust me. You're just like all the other Demigods!" Shaking his head to himself, Anton thought, If I was "just like all the other Demigods," then you wouldn't have had the time to say that, you b*tch.

"Oh, I didn't mean to insult you,"
Anton said as he pulled away his blade from the girl's grip and sheathed his katana, "I was only speaking the truth. Speaking of truth..." He now pointed at the fallen male whose eyes seem to have closed, "...You need to keep that dog on a leash." The girl threw her right fist at Anton, but he stepped to the left and more-than-effortlessly dodged it.

Now a bit more distraught, the girl held her comrade in her arms, covering the protruding broken left wing of his with her cloak.
"Leave us alone," She commanded quite expressionlessly, picking up the fallen male and getting ready to walk to the inn's exit door. Deciding he should at least try to help her see it from his perspective, Anton stepped in front of her and explained, "If you must know, I wasn't the one to throw the first punch. I was simply defending myself. You were there, you should have seen." And you'd have to be f*cking blind if you didn't.

When she realized Anton stood in her way of leaving, the girl looked at the face of her unconscious friend and sighed.
"Get out of my way," She murmured as she looked back down on the ground and walked past Anton before he could move. Shaking his head out of amazement for the girl's stubborn attitude, Anton looked to the bar and walked over. Suddenly, the kind bartender that served all their meals earlier popped up from behind the bar with an expression of sorrow.

"My inn! How will I ever... Who's going to pay for this!?" He cried out as he examined what remained of his inn and tears welled up in his eyes. The girl turned, looked at the self-pitying bartender, and replied, "Oh, this person here said he would cover the damages. Good day." With a great big smile, she turned back around and walked out of the bar, most likely thinking with happiness how much trouble she just caused Anton with that one sentence.

Still processing all the sh*t the girl just got him into, Anton stared at the bartender, who now looked like he was expecting a payment of some sorts. After a moment or two, he let out a deep sigh, and walked around the inn's remnants, picking up any and all the pieces of 'holy' green paper that he could find. Once he did so, he approached the bar and sat down on what had to be the only remaining bar stool, putting his right elbow on the bar and his right palm to his face.

"I'll have a shot of your hardest alcohol... please."

A quick note for my present and future readers:

Since journal entries are a little bit less updated on coloring words, and formatting it to keep the non-dialogue part of my entries has proven to be much more of a pain in the a*s than I expected, I'll be keeping the normal storyline black. I'll still keep the dialogue colored, though, to prevent any confusion about who is the one talking."
