Chapter Thirty One

He laughed.
The circus took months of planning, something people never imagined Monday would be able to focus long enough to do.
Yet, here it was. Ready to be used.
He laughed again for good measure. No one paid him attention, he laughed to often for it to mean anything any more.
People would come to the sewers and enter the tent ready take him and his affiliates down. The turning point to his adventure.
The explosions, the dead... Everything that took place over this long years would finally come to something. The show would either get him killed or distract everyone long enough for the next phase of Elizabeth's plan to take place.
Or his plan. Their plan?
"Ha ha ha! I never know!" he said.
"Never know what?" asked Lorelei.
"How long has the Smile Patrol been around? I'm so bad with dates..." Monday lied.
"Well at least fifteen years, I think. I remember being five and you were already talked about for causing trouble." Lorelei said. She got to be his babysitter today, following him around since morning, taking notes of what he wanted changed as they went through the preparations for the show.
The show had been Monday's idea... or maybe Elizabeth's.
Something that demanded him to show in public and piss off the good old doctor man back in whatever dark hole he was hidden! ,So whoever had come up with this Monday was all for it.
"Say, Lorelei why did you join the Patrol?"
Loerelei seemed surprised with his question.
"Well I got nowhere to go. I'm pissed all the time. E.A.G.L.E. wouldn't take me and life down on the ground isn't any good so the patrol looked like as good a bet as any."
Monday stopped and took a good look at the young woman.
"What will you do when E.A.G.L.E. is destroyed?"
She raised an eyebrow and her tone as well.
"What's up with all the questions?"
"I just wonder" Monday said, waving at all that surrounded them "this as been fun! The show we're going to put up will be REALLY fun! However... Some day all of this will stop. Maybe we take the them down, maybe we get taken down... I do have to wonder. Will stick around and keep causing havoc? Will you try to find a job, will you leave with a bunch of friends and go on a crime spree of your own?"
Lorelei crossed her arms and looked away considering this options.
"You know..." she started "I really don't care. Tomorrow is tomorrow, I'll see what happens then." Their eye met and she seemed to challenge him, as if his question had been the means for an discussion.
"Ha ha ha ha ha!! What an excellent answer! The magic of being young, living one day at the time! Some times we have to plan ahead but I guess there's no hurry right now!"
Monday patted a stunned Lorelei in the back and went back to walking around his private circus.
"He keeps getting weirder... HEY!"
She went back to chasing her boss and for a moment she almost wished she was doing errands with Ace and Happy.
