"I have commanded a widow there to provide for you... so he arose and went... and behold a widow was there." 1 Kings 17:9-10, NASB
God told Elijah to go to a widow's house and there He would provide for him.
I thought this was very interesting: The Hebrew word for "commanded," tsavahit, carries with it not just the idea of a command, but also that of an APPOINTMENT.
GOD IS SAYING: "Elijah my servant, I haven't forgotten you. Your DISAPPOINTMENT is My APPOINTMENT for your PROVISION!"
Your being HUNGRY
Your being THIRSTY
Your NOT HAVING A PLACE TO STAY matters to Me!
F.B. Meyer, commenting on this passage said, " 'Am I where God wants me to be?' If so, God will work a direct miracle, sooner than suffer us to perish for lack." (Elijah: And the Secret of His Power, p. 25).
Nothing has changed today. If God's leading you, if you're following God's Word, that's where God's supply will be.
God is always on time. God is so awesomely sovereign. God is absolutely in control.
Psalm 73, verses 1-5, "Truly God is good to Israel, to those whose hearts are pure. But as for me, I almost lost my footing. My feet were slipping, and I was almost gone. For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness. They seem to live such painless lives; their bodies are so healthy and strong. They don’t have troubles like other people; they’re not plagued with problems like everyone else."
Proverbs 13, verses 2-3, "Wise words will win you a good meal, but treacherous people have an appetite for violence.
Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything."
Thank you for this Grace Mail! I looked up the Scriptures recommended and the tears began to flow. To think that we are loved with and everlasting and unfailing love leaves me without words. He draws us and waits for us to come to HIM so He can show us His love and compassion. I pray that as His children we will understand what He has for us if we will allow His Word to flow into our hearts and minds. God Bless You!
Stay strong in the Lord,
