Draconia St. George
March 17
Goodness, it's late...there are some dragons that are nocturnal but I am certainly not one of them. It's long past midnight and I am under my covers right now, writing in you, dear diary, by light of my torch.

The reason I am up so late is that today was finally the day Glen introduced me to his Live Action Role-Play group, and we wound up going so long that it took his mother shouting at Glen to come home and clean up for bed for us to realize it was time to leave.

Did I have fun? Well, not at first...

We met up in the Fearful Forest, which isn't too far outside of the school. Heath was in charge...normally, that is a sentence that terrifies me, but he actually seemed cool and in control (for once)! Howleen and Glen led me over to the cave that would serve as my home. Howleen then took away all of my Spellbound books and study material Glen gave me. She said it wasn't allowed while the play, er, LARP was active. Then Glen said it wouldn't do me any good anyways. I asked him why not, and he slipped behind me and tied a blindfold over my eyes! Blimey! I had forgotten that my character was supposed to be blind!

Glen and Howleen told me to wait a bit and that they would be by to start the game. I waited for five minutes...ten....nearly fifteen minutes until I finally heard some footsteps creeping in the grass. I cleared my throat and asked 'Who goeth there?" At first I thought I heard some giggling, but then Glen's voice clearly called back to me "It is us, three weary travelers who hath stumbled upon your cavern, good Dragon. And now, we must test thee!"

Well, this confused me a bit as I could have sworn my character sheet said that I'D be the one sending people on quests. I almost froze up right then and there as the terror of not knowing what to do gripped me. But no, I couldn't let this be like what happened in the school play. I didn't want to ruin Glen's game the first two minutes I was in it! I replied "Test away, good sir witch, for I know in mine ruby heart that I shall pass." I could have sworn there was a bit more giggling, there...but then Glen spoke again. When he said testing, he wasn't kidding! Glen drilled me on the rules of Spellbound, on the history of the Gloomy Gulch Pass, on the eating habits of the Upside-down Orcs, and even on the type of footwear that a Bagginsed Gillman would wear! (It was a trick question; being Bagginsed meant he would be barefoot!)

Finally, after all of these questions, Glen responded "Well....I admit, I'm impressed." Except, it wasn't Glen's voice anymore...it was Toralei Stripe's! Well, at this point I couldn't keep in character any longer and I pulled off the blindfold to see Toralei and the twins standing there...Glen and the rest of the crew nowhere to be found. I asked what was going on. Toralei just sort of half-smiled in that catty way and said "It was just what I said it was...a test. We wouldn't want anyghoul bumbling up our game." And with that, her and her cohorts stalked away.

What a strange occurrence! I've been checking Purrsephone's frighttube channel on my iCoffin since getting home and she hasn't uploaded any video of me lumbering around blindfolded or anything. In fact, after they left and I put the blindfold back on, I was so relieved at having passed their little 'test,' that the rest of the game went very well indeed! I had a lot of fun, especially when I got to send Heath Burns on a quest to the Stench Bog to retrieve the Prickly Pear of Purgatory.

I almost feel like I owe Toralei a debt of gratitude. I wonder if she even realizes that her prank misfired?
