Tyler's Journal
Welcome to my journal. I'll be using it to write stories straight from my imagination.
Chapter 1: Lab Rat
Tech-Zone. Or Project Cyborg. That was his name; any trace of his past existence had been eradicated, as if his brain was just some sort of memory card.

He didn't know who or what these people were; most likely some sort of secret government organization building an ultimate weapon, using him as their pet rat.

Most of the things they did were surgical, but he always found himself half-awake through most of it. The first time they put him to sleep they cut off his arm and installed some sort of mechanical prosthetic limb. The pain was overwhelming, but half asleep he was like a baby, completely defenseless.

Other surgeries involved removing his right eye and replacing it with an artificial cyber eye. The eye itself was like a super computer. The eye had the ability to scan things and feed him information like the danger level, species, et cetera. At least that’s what he had overheard the doctor’s say, he had never gotten the chance to try it out himself. He was locked in a cell most of the time so drugged he couldn’t even move.

"He is nowhere near done. He isn't showing the results we were hoping for," A voice shouted in rage.

Tech-Zone opened his eyes. He felt drunk and deprived of sleep. He was in the operating room again; the only light came from the one above beating down on his head.

A man with funky curly hair stood tapping away on a computer screen. The man’s finger continuously slid across the screen as he virtually moved documents down to the recycle bin. It was the man who Tech-Zone assumed was behind the entire project.

There was a face visible in one of the opened windows on the screen. Tech-Zone couldn't really make it out, but whoever it was didn't appear pleased.

"I've given you enough time; this project should have been finished months ago. You have three days," The voice behind the screen growled. "If he isn't finished by then I'm going to blow your lab to smithereens and find someone who can actually get the damn job done."

The picture went blank. Tech-Zone tried to keep his eyes open to see what happened next, but sleep had finally caught a hold of him, and he willingly let it take him away.

A beautiful girl was dancing in his dreams. Her shiny brown hair swayed from side to side with every step she took. The longer he watched the more he wanted to hold her.

"Who are you?" He asked as she spun in circles around him.

It took a while, but when she finally decided to reply she came to a halt in front of him. "You really don't remember me do you?"

"No, sadly I don't." He wanted to but no matter how hard he tried he couldn’t remember, yet she seemed all too familiar.

She smiled. "In due time you will. Most of your memories were erased, but the ones that truly mean something remain right here." She pointed to his upper left chest. "It will take a while to recover them, but you at least remember what I look like. That's how you're able to see me in this dream."

"Who are you? Can you tell me my name?"

"The real me can give you all the answers, but I can't. I only know what you know. I do know you want to escape. Do so, the answers lie outside. That's where I am." The girl leaned up and kissed him. His heart skipped several beats, and then slowed down. Time completely stopped until she removed her lips from his. "I love you." She quickly messed with his spiky brown hair and then stepped back.

Everything started to fade. Tech-Zone scrambled to keep her in his arms, but he had no power over the dream.

At the last minute, right before everything disappeared, he shouted, “Angela!”

When he finally woke up he found himself lying flat on the ground. Stalks of bamboo were all around him swaying back and forth.

Everything about the dream had him curious. It was inevitable now, he had to escape if he wanted answers. This place wasn't familiar however, he was now even more lost than he was before.

His legs were weak, so he used a piece of bamboo to help himself up. Once on his feet he scanned the area - nothing but bamboo and jungle for miles.

Rushing water could be heard nearby. Rather thirsty Tech-Zone decided to explore.

The river was rather shallow, and the water crystal clear. Tech-Zone chugged down the water happily; the taste was more than gratifying as it slid down his dehydrated throat.

"There he is, kill him." A robotic voice ordered.

Tech-Zone looked up to see three robots standing on the other side of the river. They didn't appear friendly at all. His eye started to scan them and a female's voice inside his head spoke for the first time. "Battle Bots. Highly intelligent humanoid robots with the sole intent to kill. They carry E3 Plasma Rifles that can paralyze and kill pray. Trauma to the head is your best option for rendering the robot useless."

Tech-Zone decided not to freak out and take the freakish woman's advice. He dodged an incoming blast from one of the plasma cannons with god like speed.

A nice wooden branch sat to his left. He grabbed it and rushed across the water, dodging ever blast that came towards him. He felt his muscles flex as he swung the branch at the robots head.

He missed by inches and left his chest wide open. The robot used this to its advantage dealing a deadly blow to his stomach knocking the wind out of him.

He staggered back into the river and had absolutely no time to react. Another robot fired a single shot that hit him dead on.

He expected to die, or at least fall to his knees - but neither happened. Instead the energy from the blast radiated around him. Jolts of electricity ran all throughout his body. It was like a power that had been dormant had finally awakened. He felt so alive.

Instinctively he raised his left hand into the air and let the electricity flow to his fingertips. Like a cannon he let the sparks fly from his fingers and strike each robot with a single shot.

"Error." The robots buzzed and screamed. Smoke started sizzling from their heads. An earsplitting screech came next followed by an explosion of flames.

The force was too great, one minute Tech-Zone was running for his life, the next he was being carried away by the river.
