What is it in life,

That everyone holds so dear?

What is it in life,

That I seem to want out of?

I smile in this life,

... As i watch the wounds bleed.

I laugh because I feel no pain,

What am I going to do?

I watch this life pass me by,

I see the cracks and wonder,

Who put these here, and why?

What am I holding onto?

What is keeping me alive?

Could it be,

That it's you keeping me alive?

Holding me back from the edge,

The edge of a dark pit.

The darkness that waits,

Waits to see me fall.

Fall so it can laugh,

and claim another life.
