I really would have preferred to write this to you and mail it, but I'm afraid that it will not reach you in time. (The only address I have for you is Pacifica.)
Have you ever heard of the "Letter Game"? The minute I found out about it I thought "This is SO Kemble". What you do is chose a setting, (time, place, existence of magic, etc) create two characters, and a reason they would be writing to each other. Then you write in the persona of one character, and another person writes in the persona of the other and you mail them to each other.
Generally a really intricate plot develops, along with gossip about people who don't really exist. wink
A pair ended up publishing their letters and I must say that is was quite amusing. It was very Jane Austen, the one exception was that there were 'wizards' instead of scientists, so some odious magic was involved. Their courtships were very funny. (And they mentioned Lord Byron.)
