Takarashi's Introspection 2
A sigh. "It's me again, tape number two. I wonder if I can make a regular thing out of this, or if it will just be another forgotten piece of my history down the road. Well, only one way to know, right? Just have to keep doing it. So, what will I talk about today. Hmm. Maybe I'll explain a bit about my heritage? Yeah, why not. Someone may find it to be of some interest. To be forewarned, this is bad. I don't mean just as in the sense of what happened was horrible, but it's probably one of the worst stories you'll ever hear. I tell you, though, it's all true. I'm living proof.

So I originally lived on this mountain, Mt. Etchidor. Yeah, weird name. It's pretty far from here. You'd have to travel about... three weeks on foot I guess. I haven't really gone back there since. Anyway, from what I was told, it was a real nice place. It was essentially hidden from the the majority of the outside world. We had small villages dotted all over the mountain. I'd say there were maybe 1,000 people, tops, that originally went there. The reason for this little retreat was rooted in some religious beliefs. See, they believed heavily in this particular sect of Angels that worked toward keeping the world safe. What was so different about this sect than any other Angelic being you see around, you ask? Well, it was all based around this little orb." He paused in his speaking as he rolled that very orb around in his free hand. "It was just slightly bigger than a marble, and silver in color. The orb itself had little meaning, but what was contained -inside- had value. A sword - a massive one at that. They called it the Sword of Judgment. This sword was to be used to weigh a person's soul. Someone free of all evil - or at least a great deal of it - found themselves unaffected by it. Someone plagued with sin, however, had their bodies destroyed, leaving behind the bare soul. The soul, being the most core aspect of any person, was then free to be reborn in a new body. So, what I'm getting at is that it was a sword that couldn't kill. Technically. It just kinda gave the people it was used on a second chance. Everything about that person would disappear - skills, memories, things of that nature - but they would live on. The blade was created with the belief that no one in this world is born evil. It is the experiences, hardships, and unpredictable aspects of life that lead us astray. The blade was a symbol of mercy. Anyone seeking redemption may do so at the cost of everything else. To date, the forger of the sword and how it was made remains unknown. Really, the whole thing is shrouded in mystery.

Ahh. You know what? I've gone on long enough. I'll continue more about this another time. That's all for now." Just like last time, the recording was stopped, the tape ejected, and hidden away in the box as a log of Taka's life and memories.
