[The field is almost a paradise... it is a grassy, sunny, plain. Flowers speckle the plain. Hills roll on in the distance.]

[A single being lays unconscious in the center of these fields... The being awakens slowly, looking to the sky and blinking a few times. It stands, shaking its head slightly.]

(C r u c e)

Cruce: [He begins walking, looking around with confusion evident in his face.] Where am I...? Is this V? Gathering Forces...? I've never seen this zone if so... Is it a glitch...? ...I... [He looks down at himself... Nothing is there. He is nothing.] I can't even see myself... I know I'm here... right...? I know I am... But why do I feel so small...? So close to the ground...?

[He continues walking... Eventually, the sky begins to cover with clouds. The temperature drops... The further he walks, the lower the temperature becomes.]
Cruce: ...[He stops, looking up. A single snowflake falls on his nose... As he looks back down, he is visible again... But, indeed, he is not himself...] ... Hmm... This is... gotta be V... [He walks forward again... He becomes taller. His appearances changes... It continues snowing.]

[He reaches the hills without saying a word. As he does, his appearance changes again. He becomes taller... The snow subsides, but the wind picks up... The further he walks, the faster the wind blows... His appearance changes again. He becomes smaller... He has wings... The wind picks up enough behind Cruce to blow his body into the air. As if he already knew, he flies forward with the wind to his back...]

[He reaches the next point. Becoming like his human self again, he drops to the rocky ground. The clouds part, revealing a blazing sun. It becomes hot... The further he goes, the hotter it gets... He reaches a lake. Cruce simply walks into it, sinking beneath the surface, though changing as he does so. He swims through the burning water. The sun beats down relentlessly... Cruce reaches a ramp which leads out of the deep water and into a shallow swamp...]

[Again, Cruce's appearance changes. He is slightly taller, though it feels he has a bit of weight holding him backwards. He walks through the dark, eerie swamp until the water lets up and he is on dry land. Eventually, he comes to a cavern which leads underground... As this happens, he becomes tiny, more weight holding him back. To walk fast, he must hop forward. He does this... Eventually again, he reaches a light at the end of a tunnel. Cruce comes to a single platform. Floating chunks of earth are scattered across a void in front of him; a completely different scene...]

[He moves ahead, becoming taller, though losing his legs and beginning to float, almost like a ghost. He floats across the empty void until landing on a larger chunk of earth. It seems to continue the grassy plain seen earlier. As he touches down, he regains his legs. He reshapes into something like a human, though continues forward. On and on he walks until the ground beneath his feet becomes light blue...]

[Now, he walks through a sky blue dimension with strange, pillar-like spikes protruding from the ground and a misty sky. The air here is still. Nothing is alive. Nothing is dead. Again, Cruce begins floating as his appearance changes... The ground starts to slope downwards... it does so until it reaches a full right angle from what it started as. Despite this, Cruce floats forward... until blackness surrounds him.]

[And once again...]

[He wakes up in the very same field he started on... after hours of walking or flying or swimming or floating, and not feeling a single thing... The only difference is that Cruce now awakens visible. He is a human.]

Cruce: [Sitting on the grass, looking at his hands.] ...I'm not hungry... I'm not tired... Heck, I don't even have to use the restroom, and I did all that walking... And now I'm here again. Is this V, or what...? What's happening to me...? [He looks up again.] Where is everybody?!?![ [He yells out...]

[He can hear his echo in the distance.]

Cruce: [Drops to his knees.] ...So what then...? Am I dead and this is some ridiculous heaven I don't know how to... like... make use of...? [He sighs, lowering his head and doubling over.] (...Maybe it's a dream... maybe's V?) System... Log me out...

[No response.]

Cruce: System!! Log me out!!

[No response.]
...
Cruce: ...God... log me out... Someone... get me out of here... I don't want to be here anymore... [He falls, now laying on his chest.] ... [He looks up, a beacon of light shaped like a man... a very tall, cloaked man with a long beard.] Oh great... what now...?
???: [His voice is godlike. An echo follows.] Child... Thou art closer than ever. Soon, thou shall be with thy brethren... and thy true Light.

[Behind him, a beacon of blackness forms. The shape is tall. It appears to be a demon, but features are unseen.]
???: [His voice is soulless and horrifying, also with an echo.] Child... Thou art a presence that must not be... Soon, thou shall be consumed by the nothingness that be'th thy Darkness.
...
Cruce: [He presses his hands against either side of his head, closing his eyes.] No, no, no! I'm tired to hearing this!! This isn't real!! I'm tired of hearing these pointless lies! I don't need to live them! Maybe this isn't V... and maybe I'm not dead... but I know this definitely isn't real, and I won't let you psych me out!

[Both figures dissipate into infinity...]

[The dark voice remains. This time, it is something Cruce has never heard... a sinister laughter.]

[This laughter continues until blackness once again takes Cruce.]

-Ridge Hospital.-

[Inside a white room, mechanical whirring is heard. The beeps of these machines is quiet, but audible. A singe being stands in this room, tampering with some device. The man is dressed in white, seemingly intellectual.]

[He is examining a series of life-support systems connected wirelessly to his patient laying peacefully in the cozy hospital bed nearby. This patient has only one necessary tube attached to him, which is an air supply... A heartbeat monitor is probably the loudest thing in the room, as the patient's heart is beating away just fine.]
...
[Everything seems in order... for the sixth day in a row. This patient has not seen light since his blackout six days ago...]

[Just as the doctor is about to leave the room, the high tech life-support systems begin to go haywire. Brain activity increases. All of the advanced equipment in the room shows signs of equally high activity. The patient coughs through his air supply, which the doctor rushes to and immediately removes, having been through this procedure many times. The patient takes in slow breaths of air as he sits up with the help of the doctor.]
Doctor Marius: [He has a rather deep voice, with a passionate rasp to it.] Well, my word...
Cruce: [Sitting forward. The doctor's hand is on his back.] ...Ugh... Ahem... [Coughs a bit more.]
Doctor Marius: Easy, easy... You're up now...
Cruce: ...Wh-wha...? [His eyes close half way, examining the doctor.] ...Wait... What...?
Doctor Marius: It's easy to understand how you may not recall what happened... Based on what happened, you were knocked out right away...
Cruce: ...I was knocked out? When was I knocked out?
Doctor: It's been about six days now. You came in on Friday... in a coma.
Cruce: [His eyes shoot open.] A coma?! Friday?! ...Friday... [He lowers his head, looking at his lap.]
Doctor Marius: ...That's right... It was on Friday, but you've remained healthy since then. It's pleasing to see you up. How do you feel?
Cruce: I feel... I feel fine, but... I don't understand.
Doctor Marius: You don't understand?
Cruce: [Scratches the side of his head.] ...How exactly did I wind up in a coma?
Doctor Marius: That is currently what a few of our scientists are researching. The cause was from Virtual Reality, hm?
Cruce: I remember that, yeah...
Doctor Marius: [He nods.] Good, you do remember that event... What else can you recall?
Cruce: ...The world just went haywire. It was like an earthquake with an electrical storm... an then nothing. Blackness and nothing.
Doctor Marius: ...[He strokes his chin with one hand, the other on his hip.] Maybe it could just simply be electrically caused... Though, we have not had a patient ever come in with any injury relating to Virtual Reality.
Cruce: I... [Shakes his head.] I don't think V caused this... I dunno exactly what did, but... I don't think it was V...

[A few nurses enter the room, having received word of Cruce's awakening. They have already contacted Cruce's house. His mom and sister are on their way to pick him up.]

Cruce: ... [Despite sleeping for six days, he remains tired and incapable of truly waking up.] (So... a coma now... heheh... I suppose that's kind of interesting... and... not something that happens in everyday life... But...that vision... That was the truest... realest vision I've had yet... I really felt like I changed there... Still, I don't feel like believing in it is healthy...) ... (The doctor said... that if I fall asleep now... It'll be natural. I won't slip into a coma again... that's good... I don't need mom freaking out anymore than she probably is already... ...I need... to be home...) ...
