RIP Matt Weller
Now I place a dear friend and co worker into the Earth.

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. — Two Southern Fulton Junior/Senior High School students were killed Monday morning when the 1997 Saturn they were riding in on U.S. 522 near White Oak Hollow Road went off the road and struck a utility pole, according to school officials and Pennsylvania State Police.

Southern Fulton School District Superintendent Kendra Trail identified the students as sophomore Destiny Knable, 15, and senior Matt Weller, 17.

Trail said she believes Knable and Weller, who were pronounced dead at the scene, were on their way to school when the accident happened.

Weller died due to blunt-force trauma to the chest and Knable died of blunt-force trauma to the neck, state police said.

The car was traveling at a safe speed, state police said.

Knable was wearing a seat belt but Weller was not, police said.

The 9:10 a.m. crash occurred when Weller lost control of the car on wet pavement as he was driving south on U.S. 522 east of White Oak Hollow Road, state police said. The accident scene is in a remote area of Fulton County.

The car began to fishtail and then slid a quarter turn counterclockwise, state police said.

The car then slid broadside across the road and onto the east berm, police said.

The car went off the berm, struck the utility pole, spun around and traveled about 30 feet before striking a tree at the driver’s-side door, state police said.
