I read a great story last night. It's called, wait for it, "The Regent of the North". I've been working my way through a collection called "Tales Before Tolkien" and it's a pretty mixed bag. Some of the stories are great and some are...less enjoyable. This is one of the first kind. At least in my opinion. It was an especially pleasing find because of the Heathen theme. Not just Viking or Norse, but Heathen, in the sense of religion and spirituality. You don't find a lot a fiction with that focus. It makes for a wonderful short story with some fantastic imagery. Kenneth Morris, the author, really knows his way around words. Or rather did, since he died in 1937. I must look up some of his other works.
