In this world some things are defined and others are left somewhat undefined, truth is undefined. Whole, false or incomplete, who are we to decide? Those things are taught to us, but who gives the informer the right to teach us these things? The truth is different to every person but every person is influenced to think the truths they do.
We believe what we are made to believe. Have you ever thought that you could be taught into believing something was right when it was not? I’ll use the simple terms of colours to elaborate. Lets presume that when you where a child you where taught that blue is blue and purple is purple. What happens when you take a different child and teach them that blue is in fact purple and purple is blue? You get two different people who both have different ideas on what is right and think with all their ability that they are right, but who is to say that ether of them is wrong, the greater society? But they have been taught to believe the same way; someone taught them to think that way so no one knows the real truth about it, only what they are taught to believe. You may be thinking does colour matter so much? But this theory can be applied to many different things not just the belief that something is something and not something else but values and attitudes of the person or the society are influenced as well. Every thought that comes through our heads is that which comes from being taught. Taught a truth that is not the same to the next person. So is everyone’s truth their own? Or should we have a collective truth? Our truths are what make us individuals and we like to believe we share some common truths with the world but when it comes down to the root of our being this may not be the case. Everyone sees the world through different eyes and angles so no one will completely believe the same truth no matter how much they hide their true selves and true beliefs.
Truth is something which is shared from one person to another. We all influence each other in the way we interact and share information. I suppose this could be boiled down to something simple like picking up a speech pattern if you spend a length of time in one place. Things like accent, slang and language are all truths to the people who are brought up using them. Have you ever met someone from a different place? Say a visitor from overseas or a next door neighbour with a different mother-tongue. How do you think being in a place with different truths would be? It’s easier to conform than go against the norm isn’t it? Besides in a place where the people have one set of vocal truths how are they meant to communicate without learning and complying to that truth? People are influenced and truths are shared. Languages learned, slang picked up and accents gained. We share and we influence but we still do not clone our own truth.
Who do you think influenced the way you think the most and the truths that you believe in? Is it family, friends, bosses, co-workers, politicians, teachers and even children? Or are you influenced by television shows, news papers, novels, internet, movies or other texts? Personally I believe myself to be influenced by it all. Why wouldn’t I be? I’m exposed to it in everyday life and I have no reason not to gather my truths from it, for that is what I’m shown to believe. We question, we probe, we explore all to find the real truth, but is there a real truth, a universal truth? Is their one truth for all of us? One truth for every person in every city, province, town, village and farm? Such a truth would be had to believe in because our diversity is what makes us human and our experiences influence our truths. We are taught the truths that make us who we are but we all see it through our own eyes, changing the way we see.
Well I guess I have been going on for a little while now, but it feels like I have only scratched the surface of the topic. I don’t want to send you all to sleep or make you want to stop reading by adding more arguments then you really want to hear. If you have read this far then I really should congratulate you on being able to stand reading my work and for not leaving after seeing the wall of text. I hope you reply with your own views so I can expand my truths by being influenced by yours.
