From my observation, a trend takes, on average, three school days to spread. Take, for example, one of the most pointless inventions ever, animal rubber bands. These are rubber bands that, instead of a circular or elliptical shape when they aren't stretched around anything, form the outline of an animal, such as a giraffe or an alligator. Every other person in school now has them. The problem is, they keep them stretched around their wrists, so they don't look like animals, just severely beaten up regular rubber bands. You can buy them at 7-11. It only took around three days for this fad to spread.
Think about it: if epidemics spread as quickly as high school fads, we'd all have died a long time ago.
