“I cannot believe we stole so much this round.” one man laughed drunkenly.
“Yea and that alcohol from France are great, those guys really know how to make it.” another popped off taking a huge swig from the bottle in his right hand.
Cassy watched as the six men stumbled around on the dock going out around the gate to one of the harbor hotels. Rolling her eyes she turned and there in front of her was what looked like a guard. He glared down at her and she rubbed the back of her head. Beating his hand sternly with a truncheon he looked like he was prepared to beat the crud out of her. Cassy was too slick though for him, “I was wondering if you knew where the White Magic Hotel was. They said to keep walking this way and I’m not sure how to get there.”
“White Magic Hotel!? Lass, how foolish are you that you don’t know north from south? You’re going the wrong direction, the White Magic hotel is behind you three streets up and to the right!” He had a bit of a growl in his voice which didn’t help. “You’ve got to come with me though.” He grabbed her arm. “She smells like a vampire, the boss will be pleased to have a meal.” He thought as he began to drag her. Cassy kicked the left side of his leg and he growled in pain falling to his knees.
“Sorry but I can’t be heading that way. I got to get to the hotel. See ya!” Cassy dashed off and the man was too angered to really go after her. Running around to the other side of the fence she relaxed a little by sitting down at the end of a pier. “Man, that was bad, I could’ve sworn he smelt…he…smelt… so strange.” Cassy folded her hands and looked out at the water, the moonlight dancing along the waves with the stars; its soft crashes creating music on the beach.
“Such a beautiful sight.” Captain Ty Carter said coming up behind her. Cassy just sat there completely relaxed; she had heard his footsteps along the planks so didn’t mind him coming up behind her. “You’re a bit far away from your ship are you not?”
“Yea, but since they’re having fun I wanted some time to relax.” Cassy looked up at the moon, her eyes flashing red for a moment before going back to normal.
“Might I join you for a moment?” Captain Ty Carter asked softly. Cassy patted the planks right beside her and he smirked sitting down next to her. Compared to him, Cassy looked so small, and he reclined on his arms uncaringly. “So, what’s your name anyway?”
“Cassy.” She said holding her hand out to him. Ty took her hand and shook it softly.
“Nice name, I’m Carter, Ty Carter.” He smiled gently at her and let go of her hand allowing her to relax a little as well. Cassy caught a glimpse of the mark on his arm since the sleeves on his shirts were rolled up above his elbows. Her throat felt like it was closing down. He had the mark of a creature Josh warned about, the Krusniks. They would often get a tattoo of whatever clan they were with and she quickly turned her gaze back to the ocean. “You cannot seriously be so cold as to be shaking?”
“Oh yea.” Cassy said holding her arms. She had no idea she was trembling, her mind was preoccupied. “Just got a cold chill was all.”
“She suddenly has the scent of fear.” Ty thought and then looked down at his arm. “Of course, if she’s smart like she seems to be, she knows what I am now and knows what I am.” Ty leaned in closer to her and she tilted away slightly looking at him confusedly.
“I just wanted a good look at your eyes. I could’ve sworn they were red a bit earlier.” Ty got closer and she quickly got up onto her feet.
“Nope, sorry they’re brown. The crew will chew me out if I’m late getting back to the ship.”
“I see, don’t get in trouble on my account.” Ty stood up on his feet. He towered over her and he smirked down at her. Gently taking her right hand he kissed it softly. “Enjoy the rest of your evening.” Ty turned off and went towards the strange ships.
Cassy started to put two and two together. “He’s a sailor….and a pirate…. But… is the captain?” Cassy thought curiously. Though, that was always Cassy’s downfall, curiosity. It burned inside of her and the tingling feeling on her right hand left her even more curious. Following after him she kept a good distance behind him making sure he wouldn’t spot her. Cassy knew his scent was different and maybe, just maybe, he wasn’t like the rest of the Krusniks she had heard of. She knew that they ate vampires, but her blood must’ve not been that craving to have him turn and walk away. Ty walked right onto the largest ship out of all seven and she crept after him. “Odd…” Cassy mumbled softly. There were no guards on the ship. It seemed almost abandoned just by how quiet it was. Noticing his shadow going down into the hull she quickly followed after him. Her scent was luckily downwind so she thought he didn’t notice. Going down she saw the door close behind her and she kept going deeper. Stopping she heard one man screaming, pleading for his life.
“No, no please, don’t. I don’t want to die. Please no! NO! NO! NOOOOOOOOOO!” Suddenly everything grew deathly quiet again. She walked down and noticed Ty was gone, but she looked over to where she heard the noticed lied a man cut up and bloodied. He looked like he had been torn apart, completely distorted by blood. Cassy bit her left hand softly, her fangs lightly puncturing her hand. Gulping softly she pushed open the door and found the light switch to brighten everything up. Going over to the man she saw he had fangs, large ones, and he reeked of vampire. Nervously she turned him over so he was lying on his back. He had been drained by something else.
“This isn’t good. A vampire dead…” Cassy suddenly froze up. It was the same man who was in the bar necking with another vampire woman. “Oh no…. oh no, no, no.” Cassy turned quickly and the door slammed in her face. “Crap!” Cassy kicked the door but she was sent back stumbling. “What the?” Cassy tried backwards on the man’s dead body and fell back onto her butt. “Ow.”She rubbed her butt and looked around the empty room. It was just a plain steel room; only she and the carcass. It looked like paintings of blood all over the walls. “This is so not good.” Cassy got up, brushing some dirt off her uniform. Going to the door she lightly reached out but it stopped against something transparent and it didn’t move. Blinking utterly confused Cassy put both hands against this object, but to her fear, it felt as though it had a heart beat. “What?” She felt around it and noticed it started to take shape. It was no longer an it, but a person stood before her with a malevolent grin on his face.
“Feeling me out that will get you nothing but a little shout.” the man said. His hair shimmered in the light and his clothes were all white like a tuxedo. Jumping back she stood ready in a fighter’s stance looking at him carefully. “Ah, so you’re with the S.S. Melisa, but I don’t think they miss ya. You look so much younger though, maybe we should dance and I can see you truly toe to toe.” He stepped forward and suddenly vanished. Cassy quickly looked around the room and she could smell him.
“I can…smell him… that’s weird.” Cassy thought as she looked around. Her red eyes formed and she could see the energy around his body. “I can see him.” Swift kicking the man in his chest he turned visible again and he coughed holding her ankle.
“Oh I see, a half breed are ye.” He laughed lightly and his long tongue lulled out of his mouth. It went down almost three feet and she quickly tried to pull her ankle away. “Such a sad mistake, trying to kick my chest to make it break.” Cassy spun around while he was holding her food and kicked him across the head getting him to let go.
“Do you ever stop rhyming? It’s so annoying and so is your timing.” Cassy covered her mouth for a moment. “Great I rhymed.” She groaned disdainfully.
“Now now, who said you didn’t like this?” The man disappeared and before she could look he threw blood into her eyes and she started to wipe it out quickly. “Come now don’t you like it miss?” He wrapped around her from behind and she breathed out deeply to calm herself down. Stomping down on his left foot he shouted in agony pulling away. “How dare you bust my toe, I’m going to fill your night with misery and woe.”
“Get over yourself.” Cassy said running to the door, when she opened it there stood before her Ty and she looked up. Blood across her eyes still she noticed his eyes had changed as well, so cold and steely with a lavishing hunger. Taking hold of the front of Cassy’s white uniform shirt he held her there then looked over to Brian, furious about not getting enough vampire blood to drink.
“Sorry my master, I wanted to finish her faster.”
“Shut up Brian!” He glared at Brian and Brian sleeked back fretfully. “Clean up your mess. I told you to eat what you wanted of his flesh but his blood was mine. Finish your job and clean up now!” Ty roared out his orders and then looked down at Cassy who was still trying to move as much as she could. Ty smirked down at her and reached back with one hand grabbing the poll which was on his back, and as he pulled it forward, she noticed the scythe appear out of thin air; it’s blade over five feet, the colors of a dark emerald green and a softer royal blue clashing together upon it. “Now you on the other hand, boarding my ship without permission?” He smirked and when he dropped his other hand and tried to slice up her chest. She was almost cut from her stomach to her collar bone and she went flying back out of brute force and slammed into the wall. Cassy was relieved she had managed to dodged the full brunt of it. “Hmmm.”
