Today i'm gonna rant and troll. I'm going to talk about something that make me angry every time i hear about it. Today we talk about the bleach character espada number 4 Ulquiorrra. if you like ulquiorra then skip to the matchup or move on. mostly because i'm not going to argue about it.
I don't know what he did to gain so much popularity but he rank as probably one of the top ten favorite bleach characters. He is introduced at the beginning of the arrancar arc,he kidnapped orihime starting the hueco mundo arc, and was killed in the manga about 20 chapters back.
Now what i'd like to do especially when reviewing characters, is give a background what their motivations are but, and this is my biggest problem with his popularity, he has none. i don't think you fully understand so let me give you a better idea.
ULQUIORRA HAS NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT OR MOTIVATION IN TWO WHOLE ARCS OF BLEACH.
i mean hell, more than half the espada got at least an aizen recruitment chapter. Ulqiorra is just there. an obstacle to overcome, a bad guy, an expendable soldier. hell i've seen expendable soldiers with more backstory. He doesn't have any epiphany fighting, no change of heart, no dead friends or strong feelings pushing him. He just fights kidnaps orihime fights again and dies. He doesn't even talk s**t the whole time like szayzel or yammy, he doesn't think back to why he is the way he is like grimmjow or stark. hell he doesn't even get a chapter explaining why he's doing everything he does and following aizen like barragan and nnoirta. Sasuke has more reason to do stuff than this guy.
Yet, everything i stated above means nothing because the fangirls grabbed onto him and like a the rabid dogs they are bit down. And they only bite harder the more you try to pull them off. it just pisses me off that on of the most popular characters in bleach is about as deep as peice of plywood.
Match-up
Sesshomaru vs. sephiroth
both are super strong. both are evil... sorta... both have a large following of fangirls. Although i'm pretty sure only sephiroth has split ends (seriously watch advent childrren on a highdef). Sesshomaru's hair is perfect.
