[Biography]

[quote]The Legacy of Rei

Many years ago war held tightly the Villages of Mist and Waterfall. Kirigakure was losing battles and land to a great degree, until a hero was born unto them. A boy by the name of Rei, born to the Mist and raised through the violence of war, became the hero of this nation.

Rei lived like all other shinobi of the Mist Village. This boy, however, didn’t rely on his primal instinct to win battles. He was smart, using tactics, environment, psychology, and his natural leadership skills. Rei didn’t have many friends and held no one close to him so in his graduation test he murdered one-hundred ninety-nine students on his own. Some onlookers say they saw a beast in the features of his face, in his stance, and even in his fighting style. They say he was a raging dragon in disguise.

Rei eventually came to be a Chuunin and great leader in the war. At the age of fourteen, he led a small group of shinobi into the heart of the Waterfall Village. Their mission was to find and assassinate as many lords of that village as they possibly could. Unfortunately, they succeeded. Other than paying much of the population of the village, the lords handled trades between other villages including the Leaf and the Sand. The repercussions of this action was great and traveled throughout the land. Upon the death of their final target the group of four was ambushed by every available shinobi that the Waterfall could spare.

That day, a tragedy and a miracle occurred. After seeing his comrades slain before him and fearing his own death Rei went into an uncontrollable rage, killing anyone who crossed his path. Man, woman, boy, and girl, all were slain in a blind rage. His eyes turned from a dark green to a blood red, his hands and feet looked more like claws than anything that was human. The teeth grew to points; his tongue became thinner, longer, and forked, his voice turning to a savage roar. Blood covered him from head to toe while the screams of his victims filled the air. He himself was bleeding profusely from multiple attacks on his person, but nothing was slowing him down.

Soon the civilians were taken away into bunkers and there were only shinobi left. The boy wasn’t giving up without a fight and when they came to finish him, he let loose the true power that lied within his body. A burst of chakra, silver in color and visible to the naked eye, came forth from his body in the shape of a dragon. Not one of the Waterfall ninja came any closer, but instead backed away. A path was cleared for the beast to walk through and leave the village. On the outside wall was a group of Mist shinobi awaiting the entire group but only found Rei, beaten to a pulp and still bleeding. The dragon shaped chakra dispersed leaving the entire team exposed to half a Village’s worth of Chuunin and Jounin. Like anyone well versed in war, they ran while the Waterfall was left in shock.

Rei was rushed to a medical squad where he was patched up enough to be transported back to Kirigakure for hospitalization. Once there a specialized team of doctors attended to his wounds. The surgery lasted thirty-six hours, but the boy made it through.
Once released from the care of the hospital, he was taken to the Great Leader to report what happened on the mission. When he told the Leader what had occurred that he could remember the Leader was filled with fear of what was to happen next. The Great Leader then told Rei of what else had happened, of the dragon and the Waterfall Massacre. Rei fully understood and left to record what he knew and what he had heard. This record is now the Kuriji Clan’s History Scroll.

After that mission the war subsided for the time, leaving Rei to perform other missions. It was only a year later that he became of Jounin rank and had a squad of his own. He led the life of a sensei from then on. One of his first students he knew as Kaguya. He used his skeletal structure to create weapons and armor and he was quite good at it. Kaguya was power hungry though and as soon as he made it to Chuunin rank he left the Mist. He and Rei never got along very well and were always on edge around each other. They fought often and almost every time Rei won due to a technique created from their battles now known as the Water Javelin. It was strong enough get through the bone defenses most times and was formidable in weapon-on-weapon combat.

At age twenty Rei married to a girl by the name of Ayame. They had four children; Lee, Sekou, Ayame, and Ryu. These are the beginnings of the Kuriji Clan. Lee, the first born son, carried the tactics of his father. Sekou, the second born, held to his father’s strength in the midst of battle. Ayame, his only daughter, inherited his skill with all forms of chakra and the blade. Ryu, the youngest, gained the ability to learn and to perform techniques with near flawlessness and thus had the attributes of his older siblings.

It was many years, thirty to be exact, before the war sparked up again. The years of peace had brought more strength and understanding to Rei. However there was another twist to this war. It was led by the Kaguya.

The war raged for five years and there were great losses on both sides. The final battle, where all was decided, held with it the beginning of a new era. There were fallen soldiers left and right and four Kuriji children followed their father into the fight. The Waterfall was falling back, that is until the Kaguya Clan came from behind them to take over the attack. The Kuriji and the remaining Mist shinobi were well outnumbered, but that wasn’t going to stop them. They fought for hours but to no avail.

A cry rang out through the battle field. Ryu, the youngest of the four children, had been slain. Rei was there to witness it. He took out the attacker and held his son in his arms as his final words were spoken. “… That… hurt…”

The rage that had filled him so long ago in the Waterfall Village consumed his being and changed his body to something beautiful and terrible. The silver chakra poured from his body, changing his skin to scales, his hands and feet to large claws, his body grew to a great length and a tail sprouted from behind him. A deafening roar signaled that he had changed into a dragon. The silver scales shined in the fires of battle and the white mane flew in the wind. One would think that this was a peaceful creature, but the eyes, red with the blood of war, showed otherwise.
Claw, tooth, and breath of water tore through the Kaguya’s ranks. The people who preyed upon the weak like wolves were being consumed by the ultimate predator, the dragon. Filled with a new will to fight the Mist shinobi continued the attack until there only remained a few of the opposing army.

“There has been enough bloodshed here. Go and tell your people of what you have witnessed here and never return, lest your Clan go into extinction!”

Rei’s words echoed over the battlefield in a deep roar of a voice. What remained of the opponent fled. Rei collapsed from exhaustion on that spot, but his body did not change back. It took fifteen of the strongest men, including Lee and Sekou, to carry the massive dragon back to the village. Ayame carried her brother in her arms, tears falling down her cheeks at the loss of her little brother.

A funeral was held for Ryu the following day. There was not a joyous face within the entire crowd. He was the most liked, the kindest, and the most ferocious in battle. The village looked to him as the next great leader. His family, his wife, son, and two twin daughters, were the saddest of them all. They had lost a husband, a father, and a sensei to the war.

Rei claimed the Kaguya the mortal enemy of the Kuriji. If they were to ever rise to power and become bold enough to attack Kirigakure again, his order was to have them killed on the spot. No survivors or prisoners.

The years went on and Rei stayed in the form of the dragon. It took him until he was on his deathbed at the age of eighty-nine to figure out the proper technique to change back into his human form. Rei called for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren to come and see him before he died. To them all he bestowed his dragon form. It was to be called the Dragon’s Rage, named after the day it first awakened in the Waterfall Village. Each child was marked with a dragon-shaped tattoo on their left arm the covered the entire length of the arm. Each was a different color, signifying the difference between each one of the children. Performing the final jutsu of his life, Rei returned to his human state. Upon his left arm was a similar tattoo. His, however, was black instead of any of the multitudes of colors that his grandchildren had.

With what was left of his life force, he asked for his scroll and a brush. The man wrote what must be done in order to return to human form in that scroll, though he knew it wouldn’t be for a long time before someone of that strength came upon this knowledge. And then, before his gathered family, he died… smiling.

The marked children continued to grow in the way of the shinobi, making new techniques and learning the one’s that were written down by Rei. Sekou perfected the first style and decided that it was to be called the Raging Dragon due to its strong movements and devastating physical damage. A new fighting style, created by the line of Ayame, dealt in dealing damage to the body through the striking of physical nerves. It was called the Merciless Heron. The Water Javelin Jutsu was created by Lee, the oldest, was a tactical jutsu that didn’t require much chakra to perform. It was a simple spear, but it could also be used to fire liquid senbon with a chakra core to take down enemies at a distance. All three wrote down their techniques in the scroll in great detail so that the knowledge was never to be lost.

When a child was born to the Kuriji Clan, there was a mark upon their left shoulder blade that signified that they were part of that clan. The mark was a wolf, the Kaguya Clan, encircled by a dragon, the Kuriji Clan. The descendents of the original dragon knew not what it meant. Through training, the dragon grew until one day it consumed the wolf and ran down the length of the left arm of its owner, taking on the color to match the personality of its owner. Soon after, a ritual was created to release it as a birth rite when one was to turn of the age sixteen. This ritual was also marked into the scroll.

The Kuriji Clan has survived to this day fighting for Kirigakure and protecting them from all opposition.

[Kekkei Genkai]
The Dragon's Rage utilizes a Kuriji's body to its maximum potential by increasing the strength, speed, endurance, and height of reflexes and senses in the user. In addition to the physical aspects the user can create larger amounts of chakra in a shorter amount of time. This Kekkei Genkai has no bearing on the control of that chakra, however. The activation requires much in the way of willpower as well as the ability to withstand the effects it has upon the body.
