More Issues of Intimacy
Okay, this one is mostly explaining Songs of Solomon.

Song of Solomon 1 (New American Standard Bible)

Song of Solomon 1
The Young Shulammite Bride and Jerusalem's Daughters
1The [a]Song of (A)Songs, which is Solomon's.
2"[b]May he kiss me with the kisses of his mouth!

Obviously this woman loves King Solomon. But let's see why.

For your (B)love is better than wine.
3"Your (C)oils have a pleasing fragrance,
Your (D)name is like purified oil;
Therefore the (E)maidens love you.

Obviously he smells nice. icon_smile.gif But more than that, he's clearly he's pure at heart, and we know that when she sayd, "Your name is like purified oil;therefore the maidens love you."

A smart and Godly woman always looks for a pure, gentle, and tender man. Not saying you have to be smart and Godly, just that that's what smart, Godly women look for.

4"Draw me after you and let us run together!
The (F)king has brought me into his chambers "
"[c]We will rejoice in you and be glad;
We will extol your (G)love more than wine.
Rightly do they love you."

Clearly she's also sexually attracted to King Solomon. This is shown when she says, "Draw me after you and let us run together. The king brought me into his chambers"

5"[d]I am black but (H)lovely,
O (I)daughters of Jerusalem,
Like the (J)tents of (K)Kedar,
Like the curtains of Solomon.

In the middle east, women strive to be un-tan. Where as we, in America, strive to be tan. So here she's saying that she's dark skinned, but lovely. However, in the land where she's from, a more accurate term than "Lovely" is "Newah" which means "Homely".

Godly women don't always consider themselves to be attractive. And if they do, they tend to not be "prima donnas".

6"Do not stare at me because I am swarthy,
For the sun has burned me.
My (L)mother's sons were angry with me;
They made me (M)caretaker of the vineyards,
But I have not taken care of my own vineyard.

In the middle east, women strive to be un-tan. Where as we, in America, strive to be tan.

Also, a Godly woman works. Despite what culture says, the Bible's words are far more important than mere culture words. And yes, being a mother or stay-at-home-wife is a form of work.

7"Tell me, O you (N)whom my soul loves,
Where do you (O)pasture your flock,
Where do you make it (P)lie down at noon?
For why should I be like one who veils herself
Beside the flocks of your (Q)companions?"

"Where do you pasture your flock?" basically, she's pursuing him. She wants to know where he goes so she can court him. She REALLY wants King Solomon.

Also, she clearly wants to earn her place as his mate when she says, "For why should I be like one who veils herself beside the flocks of your companions?" IE: she's not a prostitute in a veil, and doesn't want him talking about her like she's one.

That's it for now. NOT FOR TODAY! Just for now. I'll make another entry right after.
