Chapter 3: Theodore's Initiation
[ No where near completion. ]

Much like Ally, Theodore Winston was just your typical high school student. He loved to have fun, hang out with others, and one of his quieter hobbies was to create such magnificent artwork. When it came to school, he was an ok student. Figuring out stuff wasn't his best selling point. Neither was doing complicated stuff like creating plans. Theo was merely an impulsive sort of guy, but that didn't mean anything wrong.

So, it really makes you wonder, how would a guy like this get mixed up in all this chaos?

It was whispered here and there in the halls of La Vista South high school. Theo couldn't help but begin to believe the rumors. It was said that Ally had gotten injured from a car crash in the middle of a highway, and then it was said that she had gotten injuries as serious as being paralyzed. It sort of was a comfort to Theo when he heard the rumor about Ally throwing herself in front of a car, knowing that she'd never pull a stupid stunt like that. It was nice to know that not all the rumors were true.

Even so, Theo couldn't help but feel anxious and worried. Just Friday he had been walking with Ally, and nothing had happened. Apparently not until they decided to part ways. He couldn't help but quietly feel guilty. Should he have stuck with her all the way home?

It was Monday morning, and he had first heard the news from his friend Vincent Walker when he came over to play video games on Saturday.

“Hey, you've heard right?” Vincent had asked while Theo was turning the game system on that day.

“Heard what?” Theo asked, a bit distracted from getting the controls plugged in.

“Ally, Dude. I heard she got hit by a car or something yesterday,” Vince explained to him. Theo stared at him blankly, and then began to question him.

“When?” he asked, making sure it wasn't just some dumb prank. Vince had a habit of saying things that really were not funny.

“I just told you, idiot. Yesterday.”

“What time, dumb-a**?” Theo snapped back, still filled with disbelief.

“I think it was right after school,” Vince answered back, reaching for one of the controllers.

“That's not funny, Vince,” Theo told him automatically. He glared at the boy he had to question becoming friends with. “I was walking with Ally home yesterday. Nice try.” Still ticked off, Theo grabbed his own controller. He gripped onto it a little more tighter than necessary. Vince snorted.

“Fine. But you just might see that I'm right.” Vince said that as if stung by Theo's words, and all it did was piss off Theo more. He said that like he was hoping it was true. Maybe he should not even let Vince's combat character stand once the game started up. Better yet, Theo thought, getting another idea. He threw the controller at Vince's head.

The day ended with a lot of cussing and bickering.

It kinda irked Theo that he had to owe Vince an apology. There's always a chance it's still not true, he hoped blindly. It was almost pathetic to assume that. Even Miranda, Ally's closest friend (unlike yesterday), looked jumpy. She kept glancing around and walking left and right, searching for her friend. Managing to see her for about a fourth time that morning, Theo reached out and grabbed her shoulder.

“Theo? Hi,” Miranda greeted him quickly, cut off from her search.

“Is it really true?” Theo asked her. Miranda grimaced.

“If you mean she got... hit... Yeah. She said it wasn't all that bad though. She didn't end up with fatal or permanent injuries... Maybe scars.” Despite her words, Miranda appeared more frightened. Theo, however, felt relieved.

“That's good?” Theo's statement turned into a question while looking at Miranda's expression.

“No. Ally's probably just acting tough again. She could be coming back with a couple broken bones or something!” Miranda informed him. “I think she got hit in the head badly too. She kept asking about whether I've forgiven her. I don't remember having any fight... She's said I've ignored her too, and we were together all lunch on Friday.”

Theo couldn't care less about that. Most people these days were crazy. Even someone as calm and quiet as Ally. “So is she coming today?” he asked. Miranda nodded.

“Hey, Theo,” called Vince's voice from the distance. The two looked back, seeing Vincent and Max heading towards them. Miranda looked away.

“Sorry, I gotta go. To find Ally. Bye!”
