Movies: I've been watching a lot of movies lately so I thought I'd write up a short opinion piece of each movie.
The International: ...A bit boring to be honest. I liked the usage of various locations but the plot seemed to move a bit slow for my taste. Rated: 2/5.
Push: Really good! It was quick paced, exciting and had an interesting story. At first I thought it was going to be like the TV series Heroes but it turned out to be quite different. If you watch it on DVD be sure to check out the feature on the science behind the film. Rated: 4/5.
W: Um...interesting. It was a bit long. I can't really say how accurate it is. At times I found myself feeling sorry for Bush and at other times I wanted to b***h slap him. Laura also seemed a bit more...decieving...evil...are these the right words? XD! I don't know, she just didn't seem as innocent as the media seeminly portrayed her. Neither did Barbara. Or Condoleeza (sp?) Rice. Rated: 3/5.
The Haunting in Connecticut: Barely watched it...was too freaked out. The basic story was interesting enough...but again, if you get scared too easily like I do than be prepared to cover your eyes for about half the movie. Rated: 3/5.
Control Room: Interesting document about the Iraqi war in the perspective of the Iraqi news station, Al Jezeera. I was very surprised! The news group seems quite...liberal. XP It also made a lot of the "higer up" Americans (save a few media reporters and soldiers) look stupid. Certainly reminds the viewers that people are people no matter where they're from. Rated: 4/5.
Knowing: It started off really well and continued that way thoughout most of the movie. I didn't care much for the ending however...kinda... made the idea of the movie (being able to predict the future) seem like a waste almost. But I guess that's up to each viewer to decide. Anyway, the plot (until the end) is very interesting. Be sure to check the DVD feature on apocalyptic visions. Rated: 4/5.
Hamlet 2: Funny...and weird. I had a good laugh about the main character (the drama teacher) being from a farm on Manitoba. Still it's fairly interesting and the "rock me sexy Jesus" song is worth the wait! Rated: 3/5.
Valkyrie: Every bit as interesting as I thought it would be!! A great film (based on a true story) about a German military soldier who tries to assassinate Hitler. I thought the acting was very good (despite what everyone says about Tom Cruise). It was dramatic and I kept cheering for Cruise's character and his allies to win but, of course, as we all know they...well...I'll let you watch the movie.... Rated: 5/5.
The Women: I struggled to decide whether or not I actually wanted to watch this one. I'm not really into chick-flicks but this movie was actually very good and I'm glad I sat down to view it. It was funny, clever and attention grabbing. I loved how they used old-school actors for the older characters and a fairly new actress (Eva Mendez) for the role of the young woman who attracks the attention of Meg Ryan's no screen time husband. Rated: 5/5.
Death Race: Very voilent. The plot was...intreging. Basically guy gets framed, has to win a violent race in order to gain freedom...group he works for is caniving and untrustworthy...he has to cheat them to get out... it's up to you whether or not you want to see it or not. Rated: 3/5.
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor: Another thrilling movie from the Mummy series. The only thing that would have made this movie better is having the original Eve. Still the "stand in" actress wasn't as bad as I thought she'd be and the movie was adventure packed! Rated: 4/5.
Jouney to the Centre of the Earth: Fun. Loved the mentioning of Canada. XD!! The movie was based on an older version but I haven't seen it so I can't compare. The 3D was not very good but it may be because of the cheap 3D glasses I had or because my screen was so small. It's a nice adventure story that reminds me of that movie with those super hero kids (Lava Boy and...something girl). Rated: 4/5.
More to come! Stay tuned for Watchmen and other flicks!
