bio // her life was going along perfectly fine until she got a phone call from school one day. she rushed to the hospital, but it was too late; her mom had died before she'd arrived as a result of a car accident. a drunk driver had plowed right into her drivers side. unable to accept it, karen withdraw herself, and started skipping class, lingering out on the schoolyard and staring at the sky, or just zoning out when she did attend, staring at a wall so blankly she wouldn't even hear the bell ring for dismissal. she ceased eating, and friends stopped making attempts to get through to her. finally, her dad made her attend therapy sessions after karen reached the point of passing out from her lack of self-care. she was forced to eat, finished up high school in a summer course, and was sent to a college near her home where she could hopefully get a good roommate, meet people, and be able to return home if she needed it

bio // her mother died when she was eight, and she hasn't gotten over it, still referring to her mom as "mommy" when she speaks of her. she wears a silver locket with her mother's picture in it, never taking it off. currently, she lives with her father and older brother, though the brother's away at college and ad works all the time. when her mother died, she was the closest to her, so the cause of her mother's death, a panther spirit that'd drained away at her energy, transferred into Kira, and is the reason for her transformations.
