CHAPTER
II
Kayte glared at the man. “Who are you and why are you on my bed?”
“My name is Wesley.” He said “Wesley Harold Trotter.”
Kayte looked at him questioningly. “Okay Wesley, you still have not told me why you are on my bed.”
Wesley nodded slightly. “Are you Kayte Adrastea, daughter of Victor and Minya Adrastea?” Kayte nodded slowly, the questioning look still on her face. “Why?”
“Because, I have information on your mother, father and brother’s deaths.”
Kayte’s jaw dropped slightly, but she pulled it back before it was noticed. She then looked to Wesley.
“Give me a moment please?” she practically demanded as she turned toward Kelevera, who was still holding Victoria.
“Sure.” Wesley said as he watched her.
Kayte looked to Kelevera and whispered “Stand right outside. I’ll call you in if I need you.” Kelevera nodded a little nod and went outside with Victoria. Kayte the closed the door and walked to Victoria’s bed and sat down across from him and crossed her long legs.
Wesley studied her features slowly as he answered casually, “I know that each murder was carried out by a different clan. I also know that I can help you find them.” Kayte took in the tidbit of information “Okay, I could have told you the bit about it being different clans and all, but why would you want to help me and why should I trust you?”
Wesley just nodded again, expecting her response. “You shouldn’t. I’m just a concerned citizen wanting to help.”
Kayte looked at him, again with the questioning look as she tried to think about it but Kraven’s face kept coming to her mind. As she tried to study him she couldn’t help but t trust him and she knew it was a stupid thing to do. He gut was telling her ‘no’ while her mind and heart said ‘Yes! Go for it’. She reasoned with herself for a few minutes and finally agreed to his help.
Wesley smiled again as he resumed studying her. He was drawn in by her crimson eyes. They weren’t so much frightening as they were pretty. His gaze then traveled to her hair which was a platinum blond shade, almost white. It was long and pulled into a knot on her head. His eyes traveled lower to her clothing. She was dressed casually but classy in a red and black lace and satin dress. The dress was a crimson color like her eyes and had a top layer of black lace. It came down to her knees. As he followed the length of the dress he noticed the fact that she was not unfortunate when it came to curves.
Wesley’s eyes snapped back up as he realized his name was being called. Kayte was staring at him. “Well?” she asked.
Wesley looked confused. “Huh? What?”
Kayte just looked annoyed, “I asked if you had anywhere to stay.”
Wesley thought for a moment. “Yes, I can stay with a friend of mine in the next town over for a few days.”
Kayte looked a little worried. “Are you sure? I have an extra bed. Victoria and I have been sharing for the past few nights.” She explained “You can use hers if you like.”
Wesley finally agreed as he stood. “Well I must be off again for a while, but I will return.” He said with a smirk. And then he jumped out the window. Kayte gasped but then realized he would be fine. She had smelled the vampire in him as she noticed his other features. He was tall, his muscles showing slightly through his clothes. He wasn’t too muscular but he was toned. He had the most piercing silver eyes and long black hair. He wore black, black, and more black. She smiled as she remembered it and then gave herself a metal head-slap. What was she thinking inviting him to stay with her. She had only known him for mere moments. She gave a defeated sigh. She then stood and went to the door to allow Kelevera and Victoria back in and recapped everything to Kelevera.
“I don’t know why I invited him to stay with me I would feel awful if I changed my mind and it left him on the street. He said he would be back later.” She made her way back to her bed and sat thinking to herself. She decided that he would keep her word but if the situation turned sour, she would make him go and forget about the deal they had just made.
