I Must Be Dreaming

Watching the blood fall
From the dark violet sky
The clouds a bruised
Bloodshot red
They cried all night
While the sky took pictures
The heavy flashes of lightning
Wake me from a disturbing sleep
The water was brushing
Against the windows
As I looked out
The wind was howling non-stop
I closed the curtain
As the lightning flashed
Avoiding the light to my eyes
I get into bed
And ease into sleep
Someone…
Someone’s knocking at the door
Who could it be
In the middle of the night
I walk to the door
And asked who was there
There was no answer
I repeat my question once more
Still no answer
I listen to the outside
Someone was definitely there
Outside the door
I ask again
Still no answer
I walk away from the door
The knocking continues
I ask who’s there
Again, there wasn’t an answer
I walk to the door
And open it quickly
Standing in front was a man
With an axe in the air
Ready to attack
He slams the axe
Down on me
I wake up with a jump
To the lightning
It seems to be so bright
At night
