4 AM. Just me and Miss Cockroach here. I call her waterbug. She's some sort of Blatta orientalis (oriental cockroack) specimen. A real beauty. Strike that. She's perfection. Those long equally shaped legs with little somethings on them and that tear-drop shaped head. Graciously moving about, flexible antennae, and that shelled, beautiful dark body. The shape is so alluring, I'd hug it if it were bigger. At 2.6 cm (not counting antennae and legs), it moves about slowly, enigmatically. The light didn't seem to bother her as I reassured her in a soothing voice to eat the pizza crumb. About 10 minutes later, she placed her leg on it, claiming it and moving closer with it to the other crumb. Another 10 minutes pass and she turns her head and digs into it, slowly nibbling away from the bottom up. I hope she grows big and splendid and that my mom doesn't kill her.. man, if she'd knew about my interactions with her, she'd kick my a**. I also better keep the cat away, she kills my little roach friends. :< I guess she's envious of my other "pets". Heck, but these perfectly shaped, adroit and gracious bugs shouldn't be killed. They don't over-breed, limiting to the space they have and the food they can get. They lay eggs every 6 to 12 month, I believe every winter in my bug's case. And they live up to 1.5 years. They also don't bug anyone. Really. Oh. And they don't sleep - ever. Well then, my dearest Clara Bug... I'm going to bed, since I, mere, fragile human, need rest.
