31. Flowers
Gino never much liked Rina. In fact, he found her really rather annoying - like most of Gaia. Despite her growing age, she acted like a perpetual 12 year old. Her flower shop, however, provided an easy way to get bouquets for some. Gino himself preferred to take the brief walk to Barton if he needed flowers, than to trek to Towns and pick his own, dying the paper and tying the ribbons. He was never very good at that. Regardless of how irritating she was, Rina was infinitely better at all of that than Gino was and ever would be.
32. Night
It’s the opposite of day; that time from sunset to sunrise; the point of time during which Gino could never avoid, but never really wanted to. It was that time when nothing really happened, and that was fine. Silence was golden, and the darkness was just a thrilling adventure waiting to be conquered. Late night walks along the shore, water lapping at your toes; or just leaning against the balcony, admiring the constellations sparkling overhead. Either way, it was the time when Gino could just take some time for himself and relax, away from the distractions of the outside world.
33. Expectations
There were certain expectations placed upon Gino, as only heir to the Gambino fortune. He had to be well-versed in literature, well-spoken, with good posture. All the basic things that made up a man in Johnny’s mind. He did have a point, though, Gino supposed. In lieu of another heir, or a wife - since Rosalie’s death - Gino was the next best thing to Johnny himself. Gino had the sort of expectations placed on him that his half-brothers would never have, just because of his surname. He was a Gambino, through and through. They were just Von Helsons.
34. Stars
When all else failed, Gino took to observing the stars. He always preferred to do it by himself, but sometimes a person presented themselves with enough eloquence to catch his attention. He sat there with that person, both of them lying on their backs, gazing up at the glittering constellations above them, neither saying a word. It was rare that he spent time like this, and even rarer for him to enjoy it. The last one to catch his eye was Sasha, really. After that, not even the Von Helson twins had been cute.
The stars were beautiful that night.
35. Hold My Hand
Sometimes, when Gino saw Sasha, way back when he was still interested in her - or was that just his father’s being within? - he felt his heart do a flip-flop in his chest. Sometimes he just wanted her to greet him, and sometimes he just wanted to hold her hand.
He knew, though, that he wasn’t preferable to the other boys around, like Liam or Ian. He was smaller, and much less manly, despite having spent the better part of his time, as of late, with Liam.
Lately still, there was those times when he just wanted his hand held.
