My Manga Story - Dream Eater
Chapter One. Time Loss.

Many years had passed since mother had died, father had always told me she died of childbirth. But I don’t think that that’s the real reason. ‘Why must you keep asking you stupid little girl?’ He would say, every time I asked why mother died. I’m beginning to get sick of the lies. I’m going to find out the truth.

[*****]

“Wait! Wait!” I shouted across the road, hoping that the taxi would stay. I leapt across the road, minding way of all the passing cars that flew by me. I jumped to the taxi just as it sped away. Great. Just great. Now I’m the silly fourteen year old girl who cant even get a taxi home. Its only a few miles after all, I guess I could walk.
I began to walk, trying to get faster each step I take. Father is going to go crazy, I’m going to be late again. Last time, I had to go to medical. Its not my father fault he’s like this. The doctor said that he seemed to have difficulties at school until he started to take things. Sometimes I feel so sorry for him.
There is a forest nearby, and I have no other choice but to walk straight through, but that’s only because there’s a ocean on one said, and the other is blocked off by building associates. Legend has it, that there is an ancient creature which lays in the centre of the forest, and those who dare see it, would lose their dear lives.
The trees bent over towards the ground, overgrown grass, but in a beautiful way the area was calming and quiet. The floor was covered in moss and flowers, and I smiled. Suddenly, I remembered my father. I need to get home quickly. I ran, dodging out of the way of any sharp bushes or rocks, I needed to get home fast.
Eventually I got to the pathway leading to my village. I checked the time, I was late. Too late. Father is not going to listen to a word I say. He wont believe me.
“But father!” I argued to him, although I knew this wasn’t going to end well.
“No buts! You have been late too many times, AND I’M NOT HAVING IT.” He raised his arm, I cowered back a bit, and as his arm swung sharply to me, I grabbed his arm and flung him over my body and to hit the floor behind. I sat up shocked, confused. How did I do that… How did this happen? Who am I now?

[*****]

I laid on my bed, still startled of my new experience. Then I sat up, and looked out the window. The grey sky towered over the village, and reminded me of that forest. Then it hit me, I should go to the forest and check up on the area, do some research and find out what exactly is in the middle of the forest.
I packed my bag, food, drink, I also brought a few hard objects and a large carving knife from the kitchen, just in case I get stuck in something or to battle. But what am I thinking. This is too much for just a fourteen year old girl, like I wasn’t even able to get a taxi.
I can’t go downstairs now; Father has gotten madder then ever. Angry stamping footsteps crawled up each of our stairs, slowly and carefully. My heart started to thump fast, sweat running down the side of my face. I opened the window quickly, just as he opens my door;
“SANDJEMI-SAN. GET HERE NOW.” He bellowed in a booming voice, my eyes widened, then I just leaped out the window to the pavement below…
Running Out Of time..
I landed, doing a roll to get into shape. I knelt on the floor and looked up at my window, there was father. Holding a shotgun down to me. He was crazy, then he shot, I dodged, and ran.

[*****]

Just as I entered the forest, a girl, with shiny brown hair and a beautiful black and brown dress ran straight past me, and stopped suddenly. She stared and gasped for breath, then looked back to the forest. Then, continued to run. I turned to her, just to disappear into the distance.
Who was that girl? And what was she doing in the forest? Did she want to go explore like me? Or is she planning something..
A deep sigh came out of my mouth as I turned to the forest again. I walked forwards. I then started to feel dizzy, everything looked the same. Almost as if I weren’t getting anywhere. Until I ended up looking to the sky, it began to rain. Leaves softly fell to the floor
And twigs cracked beneath my feet.
My throat went dry. But my face was soaked with sweat. Carefully and slowly, I walked towards the lair in the middle of the forest, the rocks and bones formed together to make a cave.
It was dark, and kind of scary. There was nothing here, no noise, nothing to see, but a vile smell overcome me. I continued to move forwards, trying to look around, until I suddenly stopped stiff, a chilly breeze fell down my spine.
I was afraid, when I saw the deep yellow eyes stare down at me. I was slightly conscious of what was happening, I was scared, so I ran. I sprinted to the other end of the cave and out, through the forest, where the creature then howls with anger, until I scream and fall over something.
“Ow!” Shouted a voice, female, but she said it in a scared way.
“Oh.. I’m so sorry. My names Sandjemi-San. What’s your name? Oh, and again, sorry I fell on you like that.” I replied, but in a sort of happy tone.
“Oh. The names Kelsie. Kelsie Fishers. And don’t worry about it. Although its not every day some girl kicks you in the face and falls on you is it?”
“Well I’m sorry. I was in a rush to get away from..”
“From what.” She asked “A creature?” … I looked at her and stood up steadily.
“Yes. You too?” I replied, in a annoying way. She nodded. Kelsie was much taller than I was, she also sort of scared me a little. Her small gleaming eyes were like threatening little demons. But Kelsie seemed like me, like she had the same experience as I.
I just didn’t Understand.
Out Of time….

Chapter Two. Life Loss.

I woke up finally In my bedroom, like I’ve been in my room all along. I sat up quickly and looked around, I searched my body for any scratches, cuts or bruises. But I was clean, as if I were untouched.
I walked downstairs to find no one, not even father who’d normally be in the kitchen. I looked at the chairs and table in the centre of the room. Nothing. Then I turned around to face the hallway. It seemed so much darker than normal. I turned back to the kitchen and a person, a stranger sat there at the table reading the newspaper. But I couldn’t see their face. Whoever it was, was laughing.
I walk slowly towards this person, trying to look around the newspaper to check on who it was. The man looked back up at me and smiles. I could only see his mouth, not his eyes. His silky, long black hair was in the way. Then he folded his newspaper and placed it on the table. “Ah, Sandjemi, My dear. Ever-”
“Who are you.” I interrupted in an angry manner.
“Aww, now now. Don’t over react. My names Thane. Ever thought that your Life would ever loose a chunk of its history?” He glared at me, but I couldn’t tell.
“Um.. No. My life has already been ruined.”
“What – Why? Because of your Mother or your Father?”
I paused and looked down. “I love both my parents.”
“Miss them? And by any chance one had the deepest death, a Loss of Life…”
I then look up at him. I have been filled with anger and memories… “What do you know about my mothers death.” I ask him with a deep, quiet voice. He stood up and looked down at me.
“Ah. That would be telling.” He suddenly faded away, Leaving me alone.
“But – But what Happened to Mother… Father….? FATHER!?”

[*****]

I couldn’t stop thinking about Thane. He seemed so evil, and he did know something about what happened to my parents. Life Loss? I wonder what that’s about. I sit up after darkness, the second time in two days. I rub my eyes and look around. ‘Father... Where are you?’ I thought to myself. But the main question was, who actually was he, and how did he know about me.
I jump up; taking hold of the table to stay steady, Then I ran out the front door. I crashed into the postman, both of us yelling. He stood up neatly, and shoved a parcel into my hands. He then put on his hat, and stamped off. I stood there, stunned. But I just sat down onto the doorstep and filled with curiosity, I opened it.
Inside was an instrument, it was rather unusual. Attached to it, was a note with a picture. It read:
Hey Sandjemi! How are you doing? I thought that this Ocarina could be in use.
A wooden place, a calming place. A scary place, and a dark place.
Use thy instrument, waken thy friend, Travel, fight, my dear Sound Loss.
Kelsiexx
I read the note over and over, its some kind of riddle. My mind swirling, I fold up the note and put it in my trouser pocket. The ocarina was charming, it was gleaming, metallic blue with various holes in its side. I blew through the nozzle at the top, to let out a beautiful noise, until the back of the ocarina took my notice. A song, like something I could play. Each lyric was carved into the ocarina neatly, I copied it onto my hand in my black biro. I played the music, I loved it, until a woman from the village screamed her loudest when I heard that one, dreadful roar of that creature.
I turned quickly, my heart thumping, I started to breathe heavily. My eyes opened wide something began to move in the depths of the forest. Until another sound was made, the song I had just played. It stopped, and retreated.
Again, I was stunned, still breathing heavily from the drama. But without even controlling myself, I stepped forwards, one foot at a time.
I was too numb to feel the sharp thistles and thorns which dug into me, I was like a robotic machine, Lifeless.
I then remembered the note, and read it aloud:
A wooden Place, a calming Place… The Forest.
A scary Place, and a dark Place… The cave?
Use thy instrument, waken thy friend… Play the Ocarina!
I played the song on the back of my hand, whistling and blowing gently for the calming noise. Suddenly, that shadowed, moving creature appeared before me. On its four leg, it slowly walked to me, whistling and roaring the song along with me. My eyes widened as I played, I started to sweat.
The creature finally revealed itself, coming out of the misty darkness. Its soft, silver wings spread out wide, with its claws and hooves, gingerly gnawing at the earths surface. It bowed to me, I was petrified. I couldn’t move. But I bowed back, and before I could stop my hypnotising self I slowly stepped forwards to it, stroking its neck with my two fingers.

[*****]

Before I knew it, I was soaring the skies on this mythical creature, and who was to know that the ocarina I had played moments before, would awaken this hippogriff, in its shimmering feathered coat.
Someone caught my eye just as I was floating over the next nearby town, Kelsie!? I fly down to a forest-like park and settle the hippogriff down. I dash over to Kelsie, a huge grin on my face.
“Kelsie! Kelsie.” I gasp in her presence, as she steps back a bit.
“Ah, Sandjemi-San. I see you found my gift for you? How’s the-”
“Hippogriff? Fine. Although I must say I was at least a little shocked to find that I have a new pet.” I reply.
“Ah well you’d need to get to faraway places soon.” She said in a stubborn way, as if she were joking.
“What?”
“Oh never mind. You’ll find out eventually, and then, Maybe you could find out the truth about your mothers Life Loss.

Chapter Three. Music Loss.

I sat up quickly, shouting ‘what!?’ loudly. I look around, That very same thing happened. I grabbed my ocarina and examined it, then I blew into it calmly. But no sound was made. I Looked at it, and lifted an eyebrow. I held it in front of me, and examined it again.
I looked out the window to check for the weather. But my window was misted, it was nearly impossible to see though. The cold glass barely shone in the light. I turned on my radio, to come with a sound of fuzz. The buzzing noise was on every channel, No a single piece of music.
I put the bread in the toaster and sat there, I stared at it, it seemed to take forever. I remembered my ocarina and radio. I reached for the instrument on the table and played it. Instead, it let out a horrifying sound, screeching loudly.
I stopped and covered my ears. Once the toast was finished, I grabbed the toast and ran out the door. I knew that I couldn’t perform the music needed for the hippogriff’s arrival, so I could just run. I sprinted to the next town, crashing into again, someone else.
“Oh I’m so sorry.” I apologise to her, she looking at me.
“Wow.. Sandjemi-San. I heard so much about you.” She replied and forgetting my apology.
“Y-You know me? And Who are you?”
“Oh Yeah. All of us talk all about you and your Family.” She flicked back her purple locks and winked “But that’s all stuff your not to know. Yet. And The names Kisea-Li.”
I looked at her, as if she were an enemy. But she weren’t, she’s now a suspect to my mothers death or my fathers condition. I needed to find out the truth. I was itching for it.

[*****]

“So, Sandjemi. Kelsie told me about your Ocarina. Not working?” Kisea Said, slowly turning to face me.
“Yeah. Do you know why its not working? And secondly, Do you know how my mother died?”
“I might do. I might Not.” She looked at me, but in a devious way. I over reacted…
I pinned her up against the wall and gritted my teeth “What happened to my mother.”
She looked me in the eyes and smiled. One of her eyes was band aided up, seemed as if she was badly wounded. She clapped her hands twice and disappeared, me crashing into the wall.

[*****]

I sit myself up and brush the filth off of my clothes. I look around, and all what was left from where she was standing was a cats thick whisker. I held it in my hand and clenched my fist. Why is it that all these strange things were happening. Who were all these people, how did they know me and I think they know something each about the death of my poor mother.
I walk back to my village, looking to the floor. About quarter of an hour ago, I started to kick a can, but it seemed to get a quieter noise when I kicked it each time. I suddenly felt my anger rush up again, then I swing my foot fast and hard straight to the bottom of the can, knocking it high off the ground. It spun, and shone in the sunlight.
The can fell down back to the floor, into the forest. I look over to the forest once more, than began to run to it, but I stopped in shock when I heard the mumble of a man, moaning in grief and agony. I step forwards shakily, and moving trees and shrub layers out the way to see what was making that noise.
I almost fell over, I had to grab onto a strong tree to stop me from fainting. I panted heavily and stared down at the body, faced down in the marsh. I turn him around to have his back to the floor, my eyes widening once more. Again, I step back shrieking a little.
My heart thumping, again and again, it has thumped so much, I felt that this time, my heart would break through my skin and to fall, to fall to the earths surface.
“Father!!?” I shouted, kneeling down, crying hard.
He managed to look up at me, and had to quickly turn again to spit out blood. I sit back, but then hug him tight and whisper into his ear “Father… What happened to you.” I felt through my pockets and gingerly dabbed his wounds with cotton wool. He chocked again, but attempting to speak.
“Sand-jemi.. My Dear…” He spoke silently, catching my attention. “save… Them…”
“What!? Save who? Father!” I cry again, towering over him. “Oh don’t leave me father..”
“Be... Good…” He said in a painful way, the blood from his face dripping down to my clothes. He suddenly dropped his head, without any other movement. He laid there, eyes a bit open, but closed. His mouth was dry, I could tell. A teardrop slipped down my cheek, I closed my eyes tight.
“He.. was my only family..” I gritted my teeth again, like then I was with Kisea-Li. I hugged him close to me, but also clenching my fists.
“Now this is it. I NEED ANSWERS.”
