How to be a good potential mod (unofficial tips)
Disclaimer: This is not an official guide, and should not be treated as such. This is just a little thing I typed up with a few opinions for those who are interested in being mods.

Key Traits:

1. Ability to CAREFULLY Read Instructions:
I cannot emphasize enough how important this is. This includes reading stickies found at the top of each forum before posting repeat topics, checking forums for repeat threads before making a new thread on the exact same subject, and reading announcements carefully to ensure that you understand them before doing something incorrectly. Remember, reading comprehension is an excellent trait for mods, and for life in general.

2. Ability to Accurately Report Forum and TOS violations:
Mods need to be familiar with both the TOS, and forums. No one knows everything by heart, but for areas you are not familiar with, read step one listed above. All forums should have a rules sticky so you can figure out if something belongs or is out of place. Mods depend on user reports to help them catch rule breakers. Users who frequently and accurately report play a direct role in keeping Gaia more enjoyable for all parties.

3. Moderate to High Actvity Level:
No one has time for Gaia 24/7, but mods need to be active. If you are interested in becoming a mod, you should be reasonably active as well. This is pretty self explanatory.

4. High Maturity Level:
Mods have to interact with the community with a certain level of maturity, no matter how badly they are treated by users. A mature user (in my opinion) is someone who reports trolls/spammers instead of responding to their threads or posts, ignores or maturely responds to flamers instead of flaming back, is capable of having a civil debate in forums, and overall remains civil. Think of the people you respect on Gaia for having a exemplary attitude, and try to emulate them.

That's all I can think of for now. There is information about the mod application in this thread here. Remember not to spam, that would be something mentioned in part one of my journal post.
