Our construction supervisor held a meeting with hubby and me Saturday with two witnesses. He said, in a very forceful manner, that he will not be told what he needs to do and when he needs to do it. That we are not more important than any one else in our group, that they have bent over backwards to accomidate our special needs, and that if this was a B & R home that he would have sold it to someone else and we would be out of the program. I was lost and asked where this had come from. He said that my hubby had demanded our hardy backer for our tile. I said that this must of been the straw that broke the camels back and that I didnt know that things had escalated to this point. He (CS) said that this had been going on from day one with our basement.

That part was true his first day on the job was the day that the sub contracters, concrete owners, county inspector and NNHC people came to look at and find a solution for the cold seams, exposed rebar, and rock pockets (that showed on both sides) when our basement was poured. A solution was reached. Expandable epxoy. They came and fixed it with a different quick crete patch mixed with acrylic. We were concerned about future problems and asked for a spec sheet. Then winter ended and the with the snow melt we found that we had an ice collum coming from the worst rock pocket inside the window frame. With the leak and ice we now had new cracks forming. We were concerned that now our basement had a leak and we wanted the sub contracters back out to fix there mistake. Our CS said that with rain gutters and our grade at a 2% slope away from the house it would keep water away and we would have no more leaks. (It will fix it's self). We are still concerned that wet years, snow drifts and having the outside facet drain on that spot will again leak water into our new basement.

The hardy backer that my husband asked him for was not an unreasonable request. We have had our tile now for 2 weeks and can not begin installing it until we get the hardy backer. Our open house is in 3 weeks. We have a friend at work that wants to help and we need to know when to have him out there. Also our bathroom window has been broken since January and we wanted to know when it was going to be replaced. The funny thing is, is we dont want any special treatment we dont think we're more important than the rest of the group! In fact all we're asking for is to be treated equally to have thinks working properly, and a time frame to work in. We are not used to all this drama we are very laid back and easy going people. We finally take a stand that our brand new home that we're building shouldnt have a leak in a basement and now we're trouble makers and selfish. Go figure? lol Our bigest worry is that they are stalling on purpose so we wont be in the open house. On June 5th I guess we'll see.
