kaalyynn and I established this zombie prepardness plan for our residence. Feel free to use it as a base for your own plans, should you also ph3ar teh zombiez.
We're in the fortunate situation that we're in a complex that is similar to a fort, with two primary entrances. There's two phases.
Phase 1: Alert front desk staff to the situation and this plan. They'll tell all the kiddies in res to stay in their suites. (each suite features a kitchenette, a bathroom, and two bedrooms. This means that if you quietly lock yourself into your bedroom, there's a bit of work involved for zombies seeking fresh meat). Front desk will call the food service outlet here in res to lock the doors, shut down, and take cover from within. This ensures a food supply for some period of time (as they sell MANY non-perishables) Seal building and kill zombies simultaneously. A team of kids taking our school's police foundations kids will organize themselves so that a few are guarding major exits and covering the front desk staff's backs while they lock down, and there's a team on the move dealing with zombies.
Phase 2: After all zombies in the complex have been dealt with, all windows and doors will be covered/boarded up/etc. so zombies can't see in and see us, and so other survivors won't horn in on our "fortress". It's not that we don't want to be charitable, it's just that we probably can't accomodate that many people in the facility. There is an access gate on the west side of the complex, and another will be constructed as an additional barrier. It's a useful entrance/exit, because it's rather obscure, and is big enough to get vehicles in and out (which could be REALLY useful). If possible, kids with rooms that face to the outside (street) will be moved across the hall so they're facing the courtyard. "Alive Inside" signs will be created and put on the roof so air traffic knows we're ok.
From here, committees to run our little society will be formed. There will be a committe formed of residence staff members, my roomie and myself (hey, we figured all this out). Below this level of administration are "leaders" for each wing of the complex (RAs will suffice if their brains haven't been eaten). There will be a "food" committee to ration out goods until we can figure out a good way to bring more food in. A "security" commitee, which we feel should be formed primarily of police foundations kids, as well as kids with madd kung fu skillz to make sure the complex is secure at all times. A maintenance committee, to keep this joint running, and a communications committee, to maintain our internal telephone network, any internet network stuffs that can be maintained from within, etc.
We have a list of "outside" people who are in, because we thought up the plan and ultimately get the final say. Kids from the college we go to have a better chance of getting "in" than other external persons, and most of the people on the list have useful skills to our cause. I'm not going to post it, because none of you know these people anyway wink Some of these people's assets are simply that they have vehicles.
We're working on a plan for if we're on campus, too. We're starting by planning for school situations, then working our way out to the situation where we're downtown.
