.¤͏ profile ¤͏.
Name: Tenebras Merroth (Garmondsway) Clark Nickname(s): Roth, Champ Species: Time Lord Nationality: Gaian Birthdate: March 10, 2007 Birthplace: A residence on Gaia Occupation: student, CEO-in-training
Physical Data - Actual Age: 2 years - Physical Age: ~9 - Height: - Build: - Hair: brown - Eyes: dark grey-brown - Skin: - Attire: At school, crisp white shirts, black slacks, dress shoes, and a black suit jacket. Gold cufflinks with a "C" which were a Christmas present from his father. Sometimes a tastefully elegant vest. Personal Data - Hobbies: programming - Likes: music, mathematics, being the center of attention - Dislikes: - Favorite Color/s: red, black - Favorite Food/s: chocolate - Sexuality: - Religion: anti - Politics: global domination - Education: elementary
Personality: Merroth is a complete drama whore. He loves theatrics. Whatever he does, he always aim for glaringly loud, conquer-the-galaxy level performances. He tries to completely overwhelm people, to suck them into his center of gravity, to be so humongous that they cannot help but to give him their attention. He has the kind of giant personality that builds celebrity, and it's no accident.
It wasn't always so. A chain of unfortunate, painful circumstances in his childhood caused him to withdraw from the world and the people who loved him, and it took a long time to recover from it. He still has the mental scars. While most people see the giant, larger-than-life personality, there is a small, quiet person there as well, a contemplative person who has known loss and fear and loneliness.
This calmer, more tempered Merroth can sometimes be found in one-on-one situations. Any time there are two or more people present, Merroth's barriers go up. It's like he feels he can handle one person, and is willing to try to open up when a single person is present, but involve more people than that and he becomes scared. This is partly a learned behavior from Emma. While she has taught Merroth many wonderful things, she also instilled in him a vast distrust of people in any number. There is a deeply-ingrained part of Merroth which believes that any time people collect, they will group together and exclude him, and that the only group which will ever include him is his family. Breaking down the wall and becoming a member of Merroth's trusted family requires a massive display of unswerving loyalty. Worse, until Merroth is utterly convinced of someone else's loyalty, he will not show them any loyalty himself, and will in fact test and try their loyalty to see if it is in fact genuine.
Background: Merroth was born a troublemaker. He was such a destructive handful as a baby that he managed to get sent back to the nursery by prospective parents more than once. Finding parents willing to take on a special needs child is hard enough, but finding one on Gaia where most children are perfect, magical bundles of joy was even harder. The answer came from beyond Gaia, when Em the Black came to visit one day and admired the darkness of this little child's heart. From her involvement, Merroth ended up in the care of Generys Anne and Edward John Garmondsway, a pair of ex-privateering siblings. He grew up on their island in the middle of nowhere, running wild with the equally-wild Generys, fighting alongside and against Nerys in equal parts. It was a unique bond they shared, but a bond that was ultimately shattered.
Merroth discovered the siblings in bed together. He didn't even know what they were doing was considered wrong, but Edward John was infuriated by having his personal shame revealed and beat Merroth within an inch of the boy's life. Merroth ran off into the jungle and would not return to the house, nor would he even speak to Generys, whom he felt had betrayed him by not rescuing him from Edward John's beating. Merroth closed himself off to the world, and to the people who, despite their failings, loved him.
This situation did not suit Em the Black, who came to the island and forcibly removed Merroth. (She also, unbeknownst to Merroth, took Edward John with her.) She locked Merroth in a windowless room adjacent her office for several weeks, which was really no better a situation, taking him from the room only to clean him up. She looked at him as a doll she could play with. When she perceived that she had made him "presentable," she let him return to math tutoring he had been attending at the Liberty Center, but Merroth was in no state of mind to perform. He was a broken toy.
As a result, Greyhaven Taylor, head of the Realverse Praetorian, intervened to remove Merroth from Black's questionable care. The only way to accomplish this was with a duel, which Merroth witnessed. Black, who had always seemed to be invincible, was defeated by a grey witch named Peri Stilbrook. Peri and her husband Steven then took Merroth home with them to their ranch in South Dakota.
As awful as Black had been, Merroth still dearly loved his former guardian and had been deeply affected by the loyalty Black displayed while trying to fight to keep him. Merroth saw Peri as a traitor to the utmost degree. He refused to cooperate in any regard and finally Peri, who had only wanted to help and rescue Merroth, was forced to give him up.
The people who took Merroth in were Boston and Emma Clark. Merroth had every intention of being terrible to them, but from the first moment of meeting, they established their loyalty to each other and extended that loyalty to include Merroth. Having been so hungry for that loyalty and attention for so long, Merroth succumbed to it completely.
Special Skills: Merroth sleeps like the dead. When he's asleep, he's out, and good luck rousing him with anything short of an elephant trampling. (He'd probably sleep right through that, too.) He snores slightly, and can fall asleep most anywhere, even in seemingly uncomfortable positions like with his leg up on the windowsill and his cheek wedged against a clock radio and twisted like a piece of red licorice. He has a very good (if not perfect) internal clock, though, and always rouses himself exactly when he intends to. Weaknesses: Merroth hates anyone implying he's stupid and being called an idiot makes him lose his cool, which makes him sometimes do idiotic things as a result. He does not have very good self-control. He also lacks a certain degree of self-awareness and sometimes does not realize what he is doing. He's working on it, though.

Personal Data - Hobbies: driving, sailing, fishing - Likes: cars, boats, sports - Dislikes: helicopters - Favorite Color/s: green - Favorite Food/s: steak - Sexuality: heterosexual - Religion: atheist - Politics: meritocratic Socialist - Education: Harvard
Personality:
Background: Most would expect the lone grandson of legendary tycoon Joseph Clark to have grown up spoiled in the lap of luxury, but this could not be further from the truth. Boston's parents died when he was only four, a tragedy which still haunts him. He came to live with his grandfather, who was strict, old-fashioned, and cold. Joseph was just as traumatized by the death of his son as Boston was the loss of his father. Boston grew up sad, detached, and terribly lonely. He quickly learned that his money would buy him company, but not friends, and anyone interested in hanging out with him had an ulterior and ultimately selfish motive for it. Still, having company was at the very least a distraction from the loneliness, so Boston became quite the party host, earning a reputation as a party boy.
In order to maintain this lifestyle, Boston knew he needed eventual control of Clark Co. When he was seventeen, his grandfather passed away, and in the hopes that his grandson could become worthy of the role, Joseph left certain provisions in his will, the primary requirement being the completion of university.
With his name, it was no challenge for Boston to get into Harvard. Once there, he continued with his partying ways, doing the bare minimum required to skate by towards graduation. He knew quite well that Harvard wanted to count him among his graduates and was willing to fudge a few details for that distinction. Lazy and wild, he didn't care.
Tired of dragging himself up two flights of stairs at four in the morning with half a bottle of vodka in his stomach, Boston decided he wanted to move into the dorm room on the first floor by the door. That room belonged to Leviticus Grant, who had been assigned the spot due to its proximity to the handicapped access ramps. Boston successfully argued his way into the room, much to the annoyance of Grant, but Grant had more important things to worry about, like his scholarship, and was willing to endure Boston's presence so as not to jeopardize his financial situation.
Though their relationship began as thinly-veiled contempt, neither Boston nor Lev could hide their innate goodness for long. They were both caretakers by nature who always looked out for others before themselves. They wound up helping one another, first just in little ways, then bigger ones. While Lev arguably needed money, both for educational and medical purposes, he adamantly refused to take even one cent from Boston, and in fact became quite angry when Boston secretly paid his medical bills on one occasion. The resulting argument cemented their friendship. Boston had finally found a friend who did not want any part of wealth, a friend he could respect and trust, and one responsible and ethical enough to be his conscience.
Largely because of Lev, Boston realized that Clark Co. gave him a unique opportunity to change the world for the better. He spent his last year and a half at Harvard actually involved in his studies, and while he might have been a lazy b*****d, there was no denying that Boston was also very smart and more than capable of excelling when he put his mind to it. He did not graduate top of his class, but he did manage to mitigate some of the damage of his earlier years and graduated in the top quarter.
After graduation, Boston took over Clark Co. He tried to convince Lev to join him in the company, to make the world a better place through corporate policy, but Lev wanted to improve the world through teaching, one classroom at a time. So that's what they did.
Under Boston's leadership, Clark Co. expanded, and in all the right directions. He invested money into clean technologies, encouraged the creation of products which were durable and affordable, made the elevation of the lower class his top priority. He put things like "end global malnutrition" into the company's charter, and turned Clark Co. from a brand that people had chosen for marketing reasons into one they chose because buying a product made by Clark was helping make the world a better place. Clark Co. had already been an industry leader, but Boston turned it into a behemoth, a staggering giant against which no company could really compete. What's more, he rewarded ethical business practices so when certain financial scandals hit the markets in the 80s, Clark Co. was not on the list of companies involved. "Wunderkind," the business magazines called him. The financial genius of the ages. Boston shied away from the labels and instead encouraged recognition of the talented people who worked for him. He knew that while it was his overall policies which were helping shape the company's success, the hard work of his employees to realize those policies was the key that made it possible.
There were snags, of course, like antitrust litigation in the 90s and accusations of corrupt politicians in Clark Co.'s pocket, but Boston found ways to dodge all the bullets. When threatened with antitrust regulation, he threatened to move the company's primary operations abroad, which would have crippled the American economy (and turned Sweden into the world's great economic superpower). In the end, the regulators were forced to back down, fearing both economic collapse and public outcry. Clark Co. was more than profitable, it was popular.
Throughout all this, Lev was never more than a phone call away. Boston had no biological family left, and while he enjoyed the company of female companions, there were none he felt he could truly trust. In the end, they all had more than a passing interest in the things that could be bought with Boston's money. Lev was Boston's only family, the only person he felt certain he could trust.
In 2005, Lev was teaching in Florida when a large hurricane threatened. Boston attempted to convince Lev to leave Florida, but Lev insisted on helping the evacuation efforts. Determined to get Lev out of there, Boston flew to Florida and tried to track Lev down, but the atmosphere was too chaotic. He managed to track down a homeless girl named Emma, who knew Lev, but was forced to give up searching for Lev and take shelter in a local school with other refugees. Sick with worry over Lev's whereabouts and safety, Boston's only comfort and distraction was Emma. With childlike certainty, Emma assured Boston that Lev would be okay, as she had the utmost faith in his abilities. Emma enticed Boston with stories as they waited out the storm. She had a childlike naivety that was utterly enchanting. When they were eventually reunited with Lev, Boston realized Lev was in love with Emma, but immediately decided that he needed Emma in his life more.

.¤͏ em the black ¤͏.
Name: Em the Black Nickname(s): Black Em, Black Species: demigod Nationality: none Birthdate: none Birthplace: The Mirror Universe Occupation: Crossdimensional Deity (Imperatrix class), formerly leader of the Mirrorverse praetors
Physical Data - Age: ageless - Height: 5' 2" in mortal guise - Build: average; wide hips, small waist, and just the slightest bit of muscle tone - Hair: dark brown, short and usually damp and sweaty - Eyes: dark blue - Skin: pale - Attire: Imperial hat, military-style short-sleeved shirts, black pants, knee-high boots - Distinguishing Characteristics:
Personal Data - Hobbies: toying with people, guns - Likes: - Dislikes: - Favorite Color/s: black, grey, slate blue - Favorite Food/s: - Sexuality: optional - Religion: self - Politics: Fascist - Education:
Personality:
Unlike her Lightverse counterparts, Black Em has no compassion and doesn't care about helping or protecting anyone. She keeps people around because they are amusing or useful, and she has no qualms about killing or betraying her allies.
Though she's quite clearly shown herself to be a sadist, Black isn't particularly aggressive. She is a dedicated Imperatrix in the Mirrorverse, charged with watching worlds rather than creating or interacting with them. Dealing with people directly is not her thing. She much prefers to be behind the curtains pulling strings. She's rarely a direct opponent. The problem is that she's a brutally efficient indirect opponent, manipulating others into doing her will.
While not loving or affectionate, Black does show signs that there are certain people she likes more than others. She has a rather dark sense of humor: the people she laughs with, she likes. The people she laughs at, she doesn't. She's verbally abusive to most everyone, but it's meaner and more serious towards people she doesn't like. Background:
Black Em comes from the Mirror Universe, which looks exactly the same as the Realverse on the surface, except everyone and everything is fundamentally different beneath. In the Mirrorverse, the Void succeeded in contaminating the Creationary Matrix, and thus Em, Trion, and Ken are all adherents of the Black Path.
Black Em came into existence exactly as she is and she has never changed. Her experience spans centuries, but there is no great variation in the course of her life. She has always done the same things dy in and day out: take people of use or amusement, pluck them from their dimensions, and order them scurrying about for more usefulness or amusement.
For most of her existence, Black Em has fought Deity Command, same as the Ems in the Realverse. Black Em's relentless assaults were part of the impetus for Deity Command to finally seek peace with the Imperium. As part of the deal brokered with the Realverse, Black Em's war was ended against her will. Furious, Black Em charged into the Realverse and has been making trouble here for the Realverse Ems ever since.
Ejay is Black Em's trusted lieutenant and right-hand man. He's very useful and Black finds his personality very compatible with her own. Special Skills: Can see into other dimensions, control reality in her immediate vicinity, excellent shot with a gun. Weaknesses: She's evil?
