The purpose of this thread is to provide a reference for all players, and to provide all the current information known about each breed of Pae'il.

Exact information on the original of the Pae'il race are still unknown to this day. It is speculated that they themselves are born from ancient magicks, but there's yet to be any truth to that uncovered.

To date, we've learned that the Angels and Demons are not the original nor first breed to inhabit Telrunya. Contained within this thread you will learn everything there is to know about each breed as well as their faithful companions, the Mellons.

Angelic Pae'il, along with Demonic Pae'il, are among the first to be reborn in these modern times. Along with Demons, Angels are the most common breed of Pae'il you will encounter on Telrunya. They're a very hearty breed.

:[ Basic Breed Info ]:
    Description:
Angels are the smaller of the two common breeds. The are a bit softer, and not quite as voluptuous as the Demons. Their hair also tends to remain soft and fine. They tend to look more graceful and pretty as well.
Their eyes are also bigger, more round and innocent looking.

    Unique Features:
Angels have large feathered wings and halos.

    Temperment:
Rational and caring, Angelic Pae'il are the more regal, intelligent alignment. They are full of compassion and kindness, but they do believe the Angelic alignment is the best alignment, and can sometimes come across as a bit holier-than-thou and self righteous.
They are the more introverted alignment.

    Birth Place:
"Heaven" - not much is known about this exact location or where it is. Its only ever referred to as Heaven, and no place on Telrunya has been located that matches ancient text descriptions.

    Primary Locations:
Angels are now located all over Telrunya, chosing to reside in nearly all different geographic areas of the island.

    Breeding Information:
It is not known currently what dominant genes an Angelic Pae'il carries at this time. However, there are 2 known recessive genes: Albinism and Identical babies.
More recently, natural progression has shown us that when an Angel breeds with a Demon, they create an entirely new and unique breed: Shetani. And when they breed with a Faerie Pae'il, they will create a Wilwarin breed Pae'il.
There is currently no information available about what type of offspring an Angelic will produce with one of the Ancient Breeds.

    History:
When the Angel breed Pae’il first arrived on Telrunya, they did not give live birth like today; instead they were born from eggs. They appeared from heaven, and settled on the isle amongst the other ancient breeds. They integrated decently well among them learning what they could of the isle and the ancient breeds. Then a great war erupted, and the Ancient breeds went Dormant, so as to survive, but the angels remained, and of their number, several transcended and became part of those now called the Guardians. The war over, and the other Ancient breeds dormant, perhaps extinct, the Angels rebuilt much of Telrunya with the help of the Demons. The two breeds coexisted for some time before a terrible argument caused the two races to divert; arguments soon grew into violent brawls, brawls into battles. Finally, the Guardians couldn’t stand to see their brothers and sisters fighting, so they created a new breed of Pae’il to act as mediators. Neither side cared to negotiate, so the Fae soon died out, from outright violence, or isolation it is still unknown. With negotiation out of the question, the two breeds fought until the bitter end, and when there were not enough angels or demons to maintain the species, both sides came to an accord. They decided what remained of their offspring would be placed into hiding and hibernation, until a proper caretaker for the isle could come and take the reins, and lead the Pae’il into a new age.

      That time is now.

:[ Basic Breed Info ]:
    Description:
Demons are a bit taller than the Angel Pae'il and the women tend to be more curvy. They are considered the 'sexy' breed. Their hair tends to be a bit more course, with it being spikey while they are young.
They look like they are more tough than Angels.
Their eyes are smaller, more slim, giving them a more devious look. This does not always mean they are plotting, its merely a physical trait all Demons have.

    Unique Features:
Demons have spaded tails and large leathery wings.

    Temperment:
The antithesis to the Angelic Pae'il. Demons are vain and full of themselves. They are the more extroverted alignment. Not afraid to speak their minds or to be blunt, they tell it like it is. They aren't out to purposely hurt feelings, they just don't care.
Demons may look tough, but they can be just as friendly as the Angels. They are more active in their endeavors and can accomplish anything they put their mind to.

    Birth Place:
"Hell" - like Heaven, not much is known about this place. Pae'il scholars will tell you though, Heaven and Hell, as is described as the birthplaces, are not THE Heaven and Hell of human scriptures.

    Primary Locations:
Like Angels, Demons live all over Telrunya.

    Breeding Information:
It is not known currently what dominant genes an Demonic Pae'il carries at this time. However, there are 2 known recessive genes: Albinism and Identical babies.
More recently, natural progression has shown us that when a Demon breeds with an Angel, they create an entirely new and unique breed: Shetani. And when they breed with a Faerie Pae'il, they will create a Nymph breed Pae'il.
There is currently no information available about what type of offspring an Angelic will produce with one of the Ancient Breeds.

Faerie Pae'il were created to be mediators in efforts to end the war between the Angels and Demons. They are the only breed the Guardians themselve possess the magic to create. They breath life into a fae by creating a conscience out of an existing idea, story, myth or legend. Some faeries will demonstrate traits of this, while some are not quite as connected.
Faeries an an uncommon breed on Telrunya.

:[ Basic Breed Info ]:
    Description:
Faerie Pae'il are petite, being not only shorter, but slimmer than Angels or Demons. They're very feminine looking, including the males. That does not mean they are effeminate. (Some are very manly!) They have the softer hair like an angel, and the males tend to keep their's long as well.
They are beautiful, elegant and graceful, having far more control in the air when flying.
Their eyes are not as big and round as an Angel's, but they are not slim like a Demon's.

    Unique Features:
Thin, translucent, spineless wings, staff, antennae.

    Temperment:
The most beautiful and elegant alignment, and they know it. Generally friendly, they can also be conceited or self-absorbed. Not to the point they are not pleasant to be around, just that they believe they are better than the other alignments. Perhaps they are? The Guardians created the Fae Pae themselves and bestowed more blessings on them. They are more powerful than the other other alignments as well. Typically, a Faerie Pae'il will receive 2 powers or abilities, or one rather powerful one. Siblings will often share an ability inherited from their parents.

    Birth Place:
Telrunya. Where exactly, it is unknown.

    Primary Locations:
Like Angels and Demons, they live all over the island.

    Breeding Information:
It is not known currently what dominant genes an Faerie Pae'il carries at this time. However, there are 2 known recessive genes: Albinism and Identical babies.
More recently, natural progression has shown us that when a Faerie breeds with an Angel, they create an entirely new and unique breed: Wilwarin. And when they breed with a Demon Pae'il, they will create a Nymph breed Pae'il.
There is currently no information available about what type of offspring an Faerie will produce with one of the Ancient Breeds.

Hybrids and Mixed Breeds are new on the evolutionary chart of the Pae'il race. Currently, when 2 different breeds mate, they will produce a unique hybrid breed.
However, this was not always the case. It took some time for Pae'il to evolve, so there are a handful of Pae'il that are Angels with demonic tails or Demons with halos.

:[ Basic Breed Info ]:
    Description:
    • Shetani (Angelic Demons):
Most common of the new hybrid breeds, as they are born of the 2 most common breeds: Demons and Angels. They can take on the body type of either breed.

    • Wilwarin (Butterfly Angels):
The product of an Angel and Faerie breeding. They also can take on any physical or mental trait of their parent breeds.

    • Nymph (Demonic Faeries):
Nymphs are born of a Demon and Faerie breeding. Like the other 2, they too can take on characteristics of their parent breeds.

    Unique Features:
    • Shetani:
Demon wings with spines and feathers, instead of leathery membrane. Prehensil tail with a feathery tip.

    • Wilwarin:
Many small, thin, transluscent wings that flutter much like a hummingbird's wing. One curly antenna extending from the center top of their head.

    • Nymph:
Demon wings with spines and a thin, translucent membrane. 2 horns on their head with a small knob on the end.

    Temperment:
This will vary, as they are all unique.

    Birth Place:
      Telrunya

    Primary Locations:
All over the entire island, usualy close to their parents.

    Breeding Information:
Breeding is a bit tricky. Their offspring will depend on what breed their mate is. For example, if a Nymph breeds with a Faerie, they have a 25% chance of having a Faerie baby, as opposed to all being Nymphs. If a Nymph breeds with an Angel, they have a 25% chance for Wilwarin or Shetani and 50% for Angels.

While not of the Pae'il race themselves, they are equally important. Mellons, pronounced may-lon, (not to be confused with melon fruits) are the small faerie-like creatures assigned to guard a pae'il upon birth. They can only communicate with their charge, or other Mellons, or Diana (the Mellon Guardian).

:[ Basic Breed Info ]:
    Description:
They are tiny, maybe only about 6 inches tall, at best. They vary in size according to each individual.

    Unique Features:

    Temperment:
They are protective of their Pae'il. And oftentimes, tend to mimic the personality of their charge. It is rare that a nice Pae will get a mean Mellon, and vice versa. Mellons are bound to Pae and will listen to whatever they are told to do without question. They're loyal and caring and would give their life, to protect their Pae.

    Birth Place:
Fae Clearing, Loka Nei Forest on Telrunya.

    Primary Locations:
They exist wherever the pae exist.

    History:
Until Diana was comfortable with the relationship Pae'il built with their Mellons, she'd kept their identities secret, allowing only a small ball of light with wings to be visible. When she felt the Pae'il were ready, she allowed the true form of their Mellons to be seen.

One of five Ancients breeds of Pae'il to exist before the Angels and Demons. The Ancients breeds are considered to be 'pure' Pae'il, born from elements as set forth from the Creator.

:[ Basic Breed Info ]:
    Element:
  • Water

Description:
  • They are half-Pae'il and half fish.
  • They do not have legs, but rather the tail of an aquatic being.
*** Their fins become legs when dry (like in Splash) but if they are away from water for more than an hour, they will begin to dry out, and it becomes VERY painful for them to walk. They will grow weaker the longer they are out of the water as well.
  • They have gills and special ears designed for living under the water.
  • They hatch from small pearls.
*** This is because they are ancient. All older pae'il came from eggs, and the Naiad's eggs resemble pearls.
  • They need to remain close to Tuathi Ri Lake as that is their life source.
*** Aernyn (the wild Naiad) have a special reason as to how they survived in the sea away from the island. This will be discovered via Plot RP in the future.

Unique Features:
Tail fin, gills, ear fins. Curly eyelashes.

Temperment:
  • Generally timid and mild mannered.
  • They are the Pae'il that coined the phrase 'go with the flow'.
  • They are generally easy to get along with and are not quick to make snap judgments.
  • Naiads are easily adaptable, and accept change as a natural part of life.

Origins:
The Waters of Tuatha Ri Lake on Telrunya Island

Primary Locations:
Can be found in any waterway on the Island, or out in the Sea.

Breeding Information:
  • Naiads carry within them, the element of water. That element will combine with their partner's element to create unique features in their offspring.
  • The mother of a breeding pair, when one is not a Naiad, determines if they come from a pearl or are live-born.
  • Naiad offspring, when one parent is not a Naiad, will normally be born with legs. It is rare that they will be born with a tail, but it has been known to happen.
  • Pearls are very small. About the size of a tennis ball. There is very little pain involved in 'laying' the eggs.
  • They will always produce at least two offspring.

Leadership:
  • Naiad are governed by a matriarchal society, led by a Queen.
  • The title of Queen is a birthright. In the event no daughters are born to the current Queen, the title will go to her Lady in Waiting. If the Queen only has sons, in the event of the passing of the Queen, the eldest must marry so they can appoint a new Queen.

History:
Long ago, before the Angels and Demons ruled Telrunya, there were the Ancients. The Ancients existed in peace, keeping balance in all things.

One sect of the Ancients, led by a young Pae'il named Alu, was entrusted with the duties to protect the Water and all that it represented. Born of the Waters themselves, these Pae'il had a special form. They had come to be known as the Naiads. Half fish, and half Pae'il, they had created a thriving civilization in Tuatha Ri Lake. At the center of this civilization was a majestic temple that reached all the way from the lake bed to the surface of the water. The temple was named after the first Naiad Queen; Alu Spring.

Alu Spring became the mecca for all Naiad life. It housed many of the Naiads, and Aquatil fairies, and was the location for all political and economic activities.

Upon the death of the beloved Queen, Alu Spring's glow ceased, and the beautiful marble temple began to deteriorate and erode. Pillars and walls collapsed, and the once beautiful temple was nothing but a shell of its former glory. Surviving Naiads moved to the caves around the lake bottom, avoiding Alu Spring's ruins.

Naiads began to fade shortly after the Great War. Most were too scared to surface or let others know of their survival. The unhatched young were gathered, and hidden by the survivors as was Alu's dying order. Special magics secured the safety of the pearls.

Unnoticed by many, the ruins of the Naiad Temple remained mostly untouched and not even a memory to today's modern Pae'il.

Aernyn History:
Aernyn Naiads, also considered the 'wild' Naiads, are those that hatched out in the Sea, away from Telrunya. They did not have the same influences modern Naiads had, and created their own society.

Long ago, when the special magic that protected all unborn ancients was cast, a small group of Naiad eggs become separated from the rest of them. They were found by an unlikely Pae, and cast off the island. Motives for this remain unknown.

When the Naiads were discovered on Telruyna several years ago, the eggs that were lost at sea also hatched. They grew up influenced by sea life, instead of Angel, Demon and Faerie Pae'il. They stayed a tight-knit civilization for survival, adoption the primitive hunter-gatherer type tribe lifestyle. When they came of age, some displayed greater aptitudes for certain powers than others, and one Aernyn stood out amongst the rest in terms of power: Tariel. She was made their leader, and called Queen.

Aernyn civilization thrived in the ocean with no boundaries. They created and formed an incredible coral palace where all Aernyn lived and were safe from threats of predators. That is, until Telruyna Island crash-landed on top of their large palace, completely destroying its foundation and causing it to crumble.
[/list]

:[ Details to remember for RP ]:~
  • If you have a normal Naiad, they're more prone to behave like the Angels, Demons and Fae Pae'il. They do not know very much of their history or heritage. Unless they have spoken to Tariel, her Court, or Tariel's special Mellon. This is the only way a normal Naiad would know anything about their history and heritage.
  • Aernyn are stronger, bigger and bit more rugged than a normal Naiad. The males are the hunters, so their fins a bit more torn. They will also have a bit tougher personality, as they are survivors.
  • The Naiad society is a Matriarchal society, in which women are the more important gender. (as opposed to our patriarchal society.) That does NOT mean they are militant man-hating feminists. It just means females hold the positions of power, while the males are the ones with the physical duties. The females are revered, as they are the mothers and nurturers. The males are respected as the protectors and hunters.
  • Naiads can die if they are away from water for too long.
*** You cannot kill any Pae'il via RP. If you have your Naiad out of the water for a long period of time, their skin will dry out (like a sponge), their color will fade, and their soul will leave their body. At that time, there will be a statue of them in the Hall of Lost Souls. There is a special fountain in that hall with all Naiad statues surrounding it. The water that flows in the statue is special pure, life-giving water, part of the element that the Queen protects.
  • Naiad do not naturally know how to walk when their fin first turns into legs.

    Diet
  • Naiad are sea creatures, so they will eat the various aquatic vegation, and perhaps even the plankton or other fish.
  • They are designed to be omnivores, however, digesting land-based vegetation and meat might be hard on their bodies.
  • Naiad come with keen hunting senses, making it more than likely they eat a lot of fish.

One of five Ancient breeds of Pae'il to exist before the Angels and Demons. The Ancient breeds are considered to be 'pure' Pae'il, born from elements as set forth from the Creator.

:[ Basic Breed Info ]:
    Element:
  • Earth

Description:
  • They are unique amoung Pae'il in that they are furry.
  • They do have legs, but they are bent differently at the knee and their feet are hooves instead.
  • They have tails resembling a deer's tail--short and fluffy.
  • They have wooden antlers!
*** These antlers, in most cases, appear to be able to grow leaves. There have been citings of other vegetation growing as well.
  • First generation Faun hatch from small acorns. but second gen and on are live-births.

Unique Features:
Fur, hooved feet, vegetation-producing antlers, bent legs, small tail.

Temperment:
  • They are usually fairly easy-going.
  • However, they are very traditionalist and are protective of those traditions.
  • They can be quite stubborn when it comes to their beliefs, especially when it comes to their traditions and habits.
  • Faun society, in general, is very tribal.

Origins:
    Laisidhiel, the Tree of Life.

Primary Locations:
Can be found almost anywhere now, but mostly near or in Laisidhiel.

Breeding Information:
  • Faun carry within them, the element of earth. That element will combine with their partner's element to create unique features in their offspring.
  • Faun offspring, when one parent is not a Faun, will normally be born with feet. It is rare that they will be born with hooves, but it has been known to happen.
  • Acorns are very small. About the size of a tennis ball. .
  • They will always produce at least two offspring.

Leadership:
  • Faun are governed by a patriarchial society, led by a Chief.
  • The title of Chief is a birthright. In the event no sons are born to the current Chief, the title will go to his Second. If the Chief only has daughters, in the event of the passing of the Chief, the Second will be Chief until the eldest daughter produces a male heir.

History:
One of five ancient races of Pae'il, Faun fell during the first war, and were thought to be extinct, along with the other four ancient races. Faun and their way of life were forgotten.
When Telrunya was brought back down to the sea, a mysterious island followed behind. When the island settled, it was revealed that the hidden island contained Laisidhiel, the Great Tree. This Tree was central to the Faun, and revered by all ancients as the Tree of Life.
Mysterious Acorns fell from the Tree as it moved to settle beside the island. These Acorns "hatched" revealing babies of a long-lost breed of Pae'il: Faun. Laisidhiel also opened up, revealing Faun residing inside.
Once lost, Faun had returned to their home on Telrunya.
UPDATE: It was discovered that Earthmother, the oldest living Pae'il on the island, used her powers to protect the faun from extinction. She sealed up the young survivors into the tree, and using the last of her power, she sent Laisidhiel off Telrunya for the time when Faun could be reborn. Earthmother, and the young survivors lived in stasis within Laisidhiel for a very long time, but the Tree gave Faun another chance at life, and they awoke, to rebuild their society in solitude.
Earthmother's powers have returned, and she is now awake as well. She had a second son, Rais, who took over leading the peaceful creatures before they were discovered.
Faun are starting to branch out to the island as their trust builds. Chieftain Rais is assembling his council, reforming Arda's Circle to ensure that Faun never have to hide again.

:[ Details to remember for RP ]:~
    • Faun Pae'il were, in most situations, born in Laisidhiel and raised in Laisidhiel. This means that they were raised in the Faun's tribal society and will be inclined to follow all traditions put forth by Rais and the Earthmother. They will be stubborn about these traditions and be unwilling to change, even at the cost of seeming backwards to other breeds of Pae'il.
***In the cases where a faun is raised from birth by a Pae'il of another breed, they will act like the race of Pae'il they were raised by. (As an example, Vangelis acts as a demonic Pae'il would since he was raised, from birth, by Texas.) However, the chances of this happening are extremely slim. As of the time of this writing, there are only a couple Pae'il documented to have been living outside of the tree, yet alone to have been born outside of the tree.
    • Faun society is patriarchial. However, this is not to say that they disrespect women--rather, it is quite the opposite. Women have utmost respect in Faun society, for they are trusted with passing the stories and traditions down from generation to generation. Most positions of power, however, have traditionally been given to men.
    • Faun are very respectful towards nature, almost to the point of resembling what humans refer to as "hippies." This does not mean they act like 60's soul children, but they are very down to earth and very inclined to live with and work with nature.
    • Laisidhiel is the massive tree where most of the faun choose to make their residence. Laisidhiel grows rooms for each faun to live within the tree if they so choose to live there, and it will grow rooms for any faun who chooses to return to the tree as well. There is a large common area towards the bottom of the tree for Rais' Meeting Dias, various bartering shops, and even just places to gather and enjoy company.
***The Faun consider Laisidhiel as the Tree of Life. Laisidhiel grants the Faun life and a place to reside, and in return they treat Laisidhiel with the utmost respect. Faun in positions of power, such as the Chief, are able to commune with the tree, and all Faun listen to what the tree relays to them through these figures.

      Diet
    • Most Faun are predominantly vegetarian.
    • Faun are omnivores, it just happens that they traditionally eat more food of the earth (vegetation) than they do meat. Meat does not, however, harm them in any way.
