Good info for us all. Another thing that happend to me was a guy wanted help, then more help, then got message from (i think) his mule, telling me never to answer the other one, and to give him the money he needed....caught him by just looking at profiles of both....your info is great....it happens to everyone sometime...I didn't get burned, but could of easily....

On another account of mine, I received a PM that said something like (and this is a condensed version of what it said),

Dear user,
You have been reported recently. We will need you to verify your account by answering a few questions so that we have permission to persue the report. If you do not PM back the information, we will be forced to possibly ban you.

Username:
Password:

As admins, we want to keep you safe. Yaddah, yaddah.

Thank you for your time

Here are the main signs of a PM hack:::

1.First off, the persons username was something like, Admin223
It had NUMBERS in it...big no-no
ADMINS DO NOT HAVE NUMBERS IN THEIR USERNAMES

2.Second, ALL ADMIN USERNAMES ARE COLORED DIFFERENTLY THAN OTHER USERS...hers was not

3.Third, ADMINS DO NOT ASK FOR PM REPLYS EVER, she did

4.Lastly (not as important as the others, but easily recognized) Most admins have at least one Gaia themed or expensive item on their avatar. She had on cheap beginner clothes

Okay, so review time. Next time you get a PM that says something questionable, ask yourself these four questions::

1. Are there numbers in the username?
2. Is the username the same color as yours?
3. Are they asking for a reply?
4. Does their outfit fit in with what the other admins are wearing?

I was on my mule account that has all my gcash on it (i bought it on him by accident one day late at night) and I got a PM forwarding me to a site. I had just spent the cash and sent the item to this account, and as I left Gaia, it logged out (like it always does) and when I tried to log back in, it didn't work. Be careful of links, because it's very easy to get keylogged like I did. Luckily, that account had nothing of any value on it, cuz I had just spent all the cash he had.

Thank you so much for sharing that information. It helps a lot for people who have trouble knowing the difference between a real administrator and a hacker.

My account was hacked once. But, luckily, Gaia caught the hacker and I only lost two items. But now, those two items are worth about 400K and 1 or 2 million. *sigh* I can't believe I got scammed, and fell for it. But I think it was Aeony, the mod, who caught the hacker. I reported the message after I got hacked. Just my luck.

***If it sounds too good to be true, 99% of the time it is***

(also, people do hack, be sure either to not show off incredibly expensive items or make sure you have a unique password to do so. and DON'T give anyone personal information)
