"Yeah...um..." he started again, staring down at the hand offered to him in greeting for far longer than what would have been considered polite. Despite the free running version of him in that dream-cloud-smoke-bubble thing, he was actually a much more subdued type of character. He struggled with speaking, for instance, and mingling even with those he was already familiar with. Still, he took the offered hand with a very weak and hesitant grasp once he had gathered his thoughts enough to allow himself to take part in the formality.
"W-Wonderland," he repeated, "it's where we are r-right now. A...strange place to say the v-very least."
The memory of his last experience in this world was split between pleasant and unpleasant, as he'd mostly encountered things all by himself. It was maybe nice that this time around, when things seemed a little darker, a little more sinister, that he had company to go through it with him. Hopefully nothing would turn them against each other.
"W-we should stick together for as long as this p-place lets us," he said finally, glancing between the two. He wasn't entirely sure how safe he felt in numbers either, but there was at least a little teeny bit of comfort being in a group so he decided it was better in the long run. For a moment he looked off ahead of them, wondering about the paths and deciding on which he personally would want to take.
Path 2. Cat - You end up on a wildly twisting path through the forest, seeing the same sights over and over. You are certain you are lost and that no matter what direction you turn you always find yourself back at the same place. Before you appears a large smile, followed in turn by a striped and sinister looking cat. No one else in your group can see him but you and he speaks to you about one of your deepest secrets. You find yourself temporarily driven a little mad by the aura of the creature and you turn upon your teammates or self. This is mercifully temporary and after several minutes sanity returns once again. But just to be sure he wasn't hallucinating, he turned to the two again. "I'm n-not the only one seeing the p-paths ahead of us, a-am I?"

Tanita watched Kane, and how he stared at her hand, curiously, her head tilted. He was an odd fellow, certainly, and she wasn't sure how to react to his... confused reaction, really. Once he did take her hand, she gave his a shake, and nodded in a friendly way at him. "So this place is 'Wonderland.' What is Wonderland? It sounds like it should be a place filled with joy and happiness, but this is not a joyful place, and I am not happy to be here. Indeed, it does not feel very wonderful to me..."
She blinks, startled, when Toki asks about a Tea Party, and sets off down one of the paths ahead of them, then looks at Kane, concerned. "So much for staying together... I hope... after this, we see each other at the other end of the paths, because I do not like the idea of being separated for very long. This place, I am not embarrassed to admit, scares me more then I would expect."
She turns to the paths, and selects one.
Quote: She heads down it, her eyes darting side to side as she goes. She begins to get frustrated, very quickly, because she would swear she's just going in circles, and that she keeps returning to the same spot, over and over, one that isn't the place she started, however. She glares up at the trees, wondering if there was enough room for her to fly, because that IS why she has wings, after all. But no, the trees are much too close together, and to try to fly here would be dangerous at best, suicidal at worst. Tanita is stuck on the ground, and she does not like it one little bit. She keeps trying to find her way off the path. After her umpteenth (She lost count after the 15th or so try) circuit of the path, she stomps her foot in frustration, and then happens to glance up. There was a... smile hanging by itself from the air above a tree branch that was nearby... And then around the smile, a cat slowly forms. Because of where it sat on the branch, the cat's eyes are on level with Tanita's, a rare occurrence for the extremely tall dragon girl. They stare at each other in silence for a long minute, the cat and the dragon. Then the cat speaks. "Hehehe Me-ow. You still have a crush on that Horseman you saw in that ridiculous dream, even knowing he wasn't really real, anymore then you were! You are a ridiculous one! Madder then everyone here, and we are all extremely mad here, you foolish girl." Tanita stared at him in horror, because no one was supposed to know that. She finds herself losing her grip on her sanity, and in the process, her ability to cope with the issues in her head, the fears and confusions she held. She snarls, and charges at the tree, and begins to thud her head against it, crying and whimpering, beating her fists on the ragged bark, in the hopes that the pain will make her mind stop thinking about these things.
Some minutes pass and then Tanita snaps out of it, and she looks around, her expression shocked at her own behavior, and a little humiliated too... And she hurries forwards, realizing this had all been another hallucination.

"I'm n-not sure who named it, but I think th-they were trying to be f-funny." Clearly he wasn't laughing, though. None of them were.
Kane nervously nodded at Tanita's words, a little sad that he was unable to keep Toki from walking ahead of them down a path all her own. He even tried to follow after Tanita, but sure enough the paths were too twisty and windy and something caught his eye and he wound up all on his own yet again. It wasn't a pleasant thing at all, and much like the taller ghoul said...it was all incredibly unpleasant and scary and he didn't want to be there, either.
The Winding Road It wasn't long before following what caught his eye got him into a heap of trouble. Or, at least, it was a heap of trouble to him. He kept winding up in the same place, and if there was something in this world that he hated more than his furries collection getting tampered with--or worse, ruined--it was getting lost. Wonderland had been the first place he really learned this about himself, and he was not looking forward to learning that lesson a second time in the same exact place, in what he assumed would be the same exact way. When that smile appeared--he hated that smile--and the striped Cat that followed, he knew he was in trouble for sure. It spoke quietly, all the while smiling, about deeply personal secrets that made the boil wonder how it knew about any of this at all. Was it because this was a dream? "Your parents, do you miss them?" it asked, almost tauntingly. "Your real ones, I mean. I don't imagine they quite remember you, to be honest, but on the chance that they do...don't you ever wonder why they don't come searching for you?"Kane winced at his personal thoughts thrown back at him in such a way. He couldn't quite imagine what his life would have been like had he never gotten separated from his parents, but those thoughts were his and his alone. A secret thought he never dared share with anyone because he knew how deeply his parents--the ones who found and raised him and cared for him after finding him in the horrid state he was in--would hurt because of it. They were his real parents, as far as he was concerned... And the anger, for a moment, surfaced and he bared his teeth and his claws at the striped Cat who continued to whisper and question and prod at his most private thoughts and wonderings. Secrets he never dared say aloud, this Cat was just letting it all out into the wind...yet his companions didn't seem to notice, or perhaps they did and simply didn't care. He turned to them, eyes narrowed and angry and for a moment he wanted to turn on them... But it was a momentary thought, really. Just a split second that he lost himself in his anger and irritation at the Cat that he thought the solution would be to get rid of his companions, if only to save himself from the bit of embarrassment and humiliation, at the mercy of their judgment because this Cat had no idea what the word "secret" meant. No, he continued down the winding road with his teeth and claws bared, staring down a Cat and slowly but surely faded into nothing and soon he found that it was just him and the road in the forest again. Twisting and turning and winding, leading back to the start over and over again. He wasn't sure how long it would last, but as long as the Cat was gone he really didn't care... Eventually he came to and he blinked, back in the realm of sanity and what was considered reality in Wonderland. He'd been lost in his own mind, apparently, in a vision or hallucination or something of Wonderland's influence yet again, and he flushed and lowered his gaze once more. He'd been ready to take the lead for once, being that it seemed this was the first visit for both Toki and Tanita...but no, after that he was far less willing and it showed in his stature. His shoulders had slumped and he just looked so much smaller and weaker than even he knew that he was. If a Cat could get him lost like that, he had no business in even trying to lead, so he left it to the other two to step up.
"C-can...we just stick together?" he did say rather weakly, after a moment, and he hoped the two heard him as he said it far, far too softly.
